Clever, Wild Lettuce, Red Clover, & Chamomile tonight 💃🏽

I originally set out for Red Clover (for both edible and medicinal purposes) and clever (for medicinal purposes) and ended up with a pretty good haul! 🤩

Everything went to the dehydrator with the exception of the clevers and (2) small bags of chamomile. The clevers are being put to use in a 24 hour cold infusion before making ice cubes. The chamomile bags are for underneath the children’s pillows for a peaceful, easy sleep ☺️🤞🏼

***Fun Fact***
Wild Lettuce has long been referred to as “lettuce opium” due to its milky white sap, lactucarium. Often used for pain and restlessness, the effects of wild lettuce on the body have been proven to mimic those of opium… even though wild lettuce was here first 🤷🏽‍♀️

A wellness tea for the sickos in the house… which seems to have been all of us recently 😅🤪

Usnea, Yarrow, Red Clover, and Elderflower provide antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic, and digestive benefits among many others!

What a blessing it is to be able to step outside and have all this wonderful free medicine 🥹 ALL of our dry herbs and tinctures are hand foraged right here in Linn Creek, MO.

I try to thank God every day that he allows us to take advantage of his creation in such a way ❣️

5 weeks old 🤩

These puppies are growing like the weeds around here 🌾 Their new found puppy teeth and full range of mobility have them fighting… and biting! 🤪

5/7 are looking forward to their forever homes in a few weeks. Until then we are enjoying their playfulness and cuteness 🥰

There are still 2 males available. PM for more info!

Once again we are reviving cast iron! This pan got left out in the elements for a few weeks after feeding Newt leftovers. You can clearly see the well known reaction of water on iron 😅

We’re doing a 24 hours soak in 1:1 solution of white vinegar and water. The whole pan is not submerged so results will be easier to prove efficacy before using this method on your own cast iron!

Although it is a simple and effective way to “restore” a pan, it won’t be effective in all cases. Some pan conditions require a bit more convincing to be cleaned up 🤣

Hi! 🐾

We are 3 week old Chocolate Labrador puppies and our eyes and ears are OPEN. We’re on the move now so our caretaker doesn’t stand a chance at keeping us on the birthing mat in the laundry room 💅🏼 We’re not so sure about this “grass” stuff but it’s pretty good to p**p and p*e on 🤷🏽‍♀️ 4/7 of us have found our forever homes and are looking forward to meeting our new families in about a month. The word on the street is that we’ll be trying so-called “wet dog food” in a week or so… not sure what that is but if it’s edible we’ll eat it!!!

Won’t you consider adopting the other 3 of us? We’re a great family breed and although we have a lot of energy we are loving, loyal, and very protective! ❤️ We also come from a bloodline of bone hunters so we’ll be sure to help you find sheds AND retrieve your ducks during season 😉

Just message our caretaker on this page if you’d like us to join your family. She’ll sure miss us but understands that we all want to have our own families and life experiences.

Let’s talk ramps. First of all, IYKYK… 🤤

Anyway ramps (wild leeks) are native to the Eastern/Midwestern parts of the United States and some of Canada. Since they thrive in rich, moist forest conditions they are most prevalent in the Appalachian region where they are well renowned. Folks look forward to the short season that they can be harvested, as we do with many other wild edibles (ex morels) 🤩

We’re attempting to bring a bit of Appalachia to our part of the Midwest with this purchase💃🏽 Ramps have a garlicky onion taste and can be prepared in a large variety of ways. If you’ve had ramps, let me know what they mean to you and your favorite preparation method(s).

I have a feeling these will be a preorder item in the years to come so y’all be on the lookout 🫡

Let’s play a game!

What do you think we’re planning to do with this combination of items? 👀

First person to correctly guess (or get close enough) wins $10 via Venmo/Cashapp 🤩

Get to guessing! Dana & Addy with Fireridge Farmstand are excluded from this game because I already explained my experiment in great detail to them 🤣
