We had a good run of sap this last week. So far we've collected over 200 gallons of sap! The 70+ degree weather on Saturday was perfect for doing a long outdoor boil. We use a reverse osmosis (RO) system to pull out water from the sap and reduce the amount of boiling we need to do.

The 2025 season was another short one but the 2026 season is here!!
We tapped last Monday and have gotten 25ish gallons of sap so far and today was a beautiful day to have the first boil.
The upcoming weather looks great for continued sap production!

What a weird winter! Usually we'd be pretty early into the season right now. Unfortunately, our season ended about 2 weeks ago when the tree buds opened. Due to busy schedules, we weren't able to tap earlier in the season, so we won't be making any syrup this year. We'll let the trees take a rest this year and be back at it next year!

The weather really did not cooperate this year. For good sap flow, you need freezing temperatures overnight and above freezing during the day. We got maybe a week's worth of good sap weather. Looking at the forecast, the season will be over by Friday.
We were lucky enough to be able to collect enough sap to make 8 gallons of syrup though (should have a few more gallons by the weekend)! Not great compared to our 15 last year and our goal of 20 for this year, but we're just glad we were able to continue the hobby.
