Merkts Cheese Spread got its name from the original Merkts man, George Merkt. In the 1950s, he and his wife set up a small cheese and sausage shop near Salem, Wisconsin. That independent shop was the beginning of Merkts Cheese Company. In 1982, Merkts Cheese Company moved to Bristol, Wisconsin, where a variety of quality Merkts Cheese Spreads and other products were produced

. Bel Brands USA purchased the brand in 2002, and from there Merkts continued to grow into the fan favorite you know today. Today, all Merkts Cheese Spreads are produced in Little Chute, Wisconsin and are still made with 100% REAL Wisconsin Aged Cheddar. Find your favorite flavor at www.merkts.com.
