Well, my Herbal Allies I'm in slow gear this month & still running behind, but I didn't want to miss out on our Herb of The Month as usual. I wasn't sure which one to pick & recommendations from any of you would be great, so I make sure & cover the ones of interest. While out touring my yard I happened upon a natural herb/weed, that most find invasive & if not careful can be painful to harvest or irradicate. The Villain I speak of is STINGING NETTLE! Yes, it can be invasive & yes, it has stinging hairs on it's stems that sting & bite & can make your hand swell sometimes. That's it's protective cover from predators! It's actually a very potent powerful anti-inflammatory & antioxidant. Used to help relieve seasonal allergies, ease joint pain, etc. There is an easy way of picking stinging nettle & also when it's dried, cooked or blanched their stinging hairs are neutralized. HERE WE GO!!!... MAY is blowing in hard!...lol It's SPRING & THE ROOTED GYPSY/aka THE LITTLE SHOP OF HERBS is excited! The HERB OF THE MONTH (w/10% discount thru month) is BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER! Also, the shop has added new items, like colorful fabric growing pots, which herbs, vegetables & flowers look & do well in. I use these pots for #1 they're budget friendly & more eco than plastic, they're lightweight & easily moveable & you can get lots of different sizes & colors! I also have a few herb plants, as well as some Moringa seed & (Red) Winged Beans which you can google & read about. As for our teas, we've added a couple of new flavors & we have Tea Blossoms/Blooming Tea. A flower blossom ball that opens up in your cup of tea water! I also carry whole Blue Lotus Flowers, but they sell out quickly. The newest Herb addition is CHICORY, for those who prefer it to coffee or an occasional substitute.
