The kiddos and I got to go to the state fair on Friday thanks to the Illinois Farm Bureau! I love being able to see all the things Illinoisans do so well. Walking through you can see the passion for livestock, great food and having a good time. We ate about 6 Vose’s Corndogs (4 of which went to Nolan) a few shake ups, some candied fruit AND a funnel cake. Thankfully calories eaten at the state fair don’t count! Also, stop by the artisan building for a wine tasting! They had a strawberry mead (the first time I’ve tried one) that was absolutely fabulous. Looks like I’m going to have to get bees out on the farm too ;)

Pasture raised Thanksgiving turkeys coming soon! These ones are heritage bred; they are great foragers and put on a more well-rounded finish versus the traditional grocery store turkeys. They aren’t commercially used because they are slower growing. We have a limited number available, so if you want fresh, local, and never frozen be sure to get on the list!
