🌱☀️ We are so grateful for our Farmers.
As National Farmers Market Week comes to a close, we’re thinking about the long story of this Virginia Farmland and the seasons that shape it.
For generations, the fields around Locust Grove and eastern Orange County have been working ground. Long before the roads and houses we know today, this was farmland — and it still is.
That continuous thread of growing food and raising animals is what makes our Sunday market feel so rooted.
That same commitment continues today.
Our market, established in 2006, carries the tradition forward.
We’re especially thankful for growers like Franco Produce, the Family Farm that brings peak-season vegetables and peaches up from Richmond County, and Papa Weaver’s Pork, raised by a seventh-generation Farm on land once owned by President James Madison.
We’re also grateful for Spring Hill Farm and their microgreens, ultra-fresh eggs, and infused vinegars; Be Sweets, where Bridget bakes cookies, cakes, breads and pies from scratch with good ingredients and no preservatives; Mushroom Spring Farm, who bring an impressive variety each week; Sleepy Bee’s Lake Anna honey; and Tasty Fixin’s jams and pickles crafted from Franco’s produce — a true full-circle farming partnership.
This year has tested that resilience.
⚡️ A developing El Niño has influenced weather patterns across the Mid-Atlantic, bringing early temperature swings that challenged fruit crops, followed by stretches of drought and then heavy rain.
Yet our Farmers keep showing up, adapting, harvesting what the season allows, and bringing their best to Locust Grove Town Center.
Every time you shop at the Eastern Orange Virginia Farmers’ Market, you’re supporting the people who are still working this land — and helping make sure that continues.
