Deadline Reminder for Montana Hunting Applications

• May 1 – Moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and bison
• June 1 – Elk B, deer B, and antelope

Applications must be submitted online, at an FWP office, or through a License Ambassador. Most FWP offices that sell licenses are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FWP provides several resources to assist applicants, including instructional videos for both residents and nonresidents and the MyFWP mobile app. The app allows users to store and access licenses, permits, and E-Tags, even without cell service.

Applicants may also use the “reapply” feature to quickly submit for the same opportunities as the previous year.

Starting April 15, spring turkey and black bear seasons officially open. If you’re heading out, now’s the time to double-check the regulations, plan your hunt, and make sure all your gear is ready to go.

A little preparation goes a long way toward a safe and successful season. Know your unit rules, tagging and reporting requirements, and any updates before you head into the field.

Turkey/Upland game birds only: Nonresidents hunting on public lands and privately owned lands that are part of a hunting access program (such as block management) must wait 10 days to legally hunt these sites. This means non-residents may access and hunt these areas starting April 25.

The deadline to apply for deer & elk permits and nonresident combination licenses is April 1, and it’ll be here before you know it.
Apply online through here: https://fwp.mt.gov/buyandapply and make the process even easier with helpful how-to videos on our YouTube Channel and the MyFWP app, where you can store licenses, permits, and E-Tags right on your phone (even offline).

Bonus: You can reapply for last year’s selections with just one click; no need to start from scratch.
