Here's a detailed look at what bees are up to in spring:
Honeybees:
Foraging: Worker bees actively forage for nectar and pollen from early-blooming flowers to replenish their stores and feed the developing brood.
Brood Rearing: The queen bee resumes egg-laying, and the colony initiates brood rearing, preparing for expansion.
Swarming: Spring is also a time when honeybees may swarm, leaving the hive to find a new location to establish a colony.

Bees play a critical role in U.S. food production. In addition to making honey, they pollinate 75% of the fruits, nuts, and vegetables grown in the U.S.
As spring is upon us and you venture out to do spring clean up in your yard, please be mindful of the bees!
Plant Native Flowers: Planting a variety of native flowers that bloom throughout the spring and summer can provide a valuable food source for bees.
Avoid Pesticides: Avoid using pesticides, especially those that can harm bees, in your garden.
Leave Dandelions: Dandelions are an important early food source for bees, so consider leaving them in your lawn instead of mowing them.
