Hey riders and all : Jay Road Median Closure info:

Beginning, Monday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. to Friday, Oct. 17 at midnight, the Jay Road median, between northbound and southbound CO 119/Diagonal Highway, will be temporarily closed to ALL modes of transportation.

This closure is necessary for crews to remove old concrete pavement, complete utility work, pour concrete sidewalk, perform striping operations and install the permanent signal pole.

Bike Detour
Westbound cyclists will turn left onto 57th Street, turn right on Independence Road, turn left onto southbound CO 119, and turn right onto 47th Street to return to Jay Road.

Eastbound cyclists will turn right onto 47th Street, make a sharp left onto northbound CO 119, turn right onto Independence Road, and left onto 57th Street to return to Jay Road.

Several of you asked: Will there be a Diagonal Bikeway e-bike share program (like BCycle)? Answer: It seems so.
City of Longmont, Colorado is leading the effort, and coordinating with Boulder County and the City of Boulder to make the system work from one end to the other. Stay tuned for details. Lots of contracting to do. It sounds like we are still a couple years away from it going live...

Hi all - Here is the Dry Creek Trail and surrounding area we are talking about in a wider shot for 2025-2026:

Green - New trail section, and marked roadway
Blue - existing raised sidepath, north of Sam's Club
Yellow - Road Diet for S. Sunset St.: reduce from 4 lanes to 2, plus center turn lane, add buffered bike lanes (TAB, Aug 2023).
- Bike lanes on Korte Parkway, Sunset Way, and Frontage Road.
Orange - Enhanced crossing (details TBD) at Korte Pkwy and S. Sunset St. We would love this to be a HAWK crosswalk (flashing lights).

Trail section is being coordinated by Parks & Open Space with Traffic managing the Road Diet & resurfacing. This is a FUNDED project, with bids going out in summer, and work hopefully this fall.

Hi all - Dry Creek Trail work will be going out to bid this summer. Wayfinding signage and Sunset St / Korte Pkwy restriping and street signage will be developed at the same time.

Tomorrow is Winter Bike to Work Day!! Temps will be in the 20's - Yeah.. it's cold but hey! If you were skiing and there were 12 inches of powder.... Just sayin',

From the City: If you plan to ride, protect those ears, nose, fingers, and toes and all the rest of you too. While snow is not expected, temperatures in the low 20’s are. For this reason, the City of Longmont will be hosting its Winter Bike to Work Day breakfast station in the Development Services Center (DSC) lobby located at 385 Kimbark Street where you can warm up with hot coffee, cocoa and breakfast burritos before riding to your final destination. The DSC breakfast station will be open from 7:00 – 9:00 am.
With the City’s recent rollout of the RIDE Longmont on-demand micro transit service, City of Longmont Transportation Planning staff will use the event as an opportunity to educate visitors on the new service. A RIDE Longmont micro transit vehicle along with RIDE Longmont staff will be available to demonstrate how to use the micro transit bike rack as well as answer questions related to the service.
