This May, we’re proud to spotlight and celebrate Asian-owned businesses that continue to shape culture, community, and connection through food 🤍
At Yama Sushi Marketplace, we’re excited to welcome .co — founded by a Japanese artisan whose journey from interpreter to fermentation expert has helped bring the rich traditions of Japanese miso and koji culture into everyday American kitchens.
After moving to LA in 2011, Omiso’s founder began brewing soy sauce and making miso in a small Little Tokyo apartment, inspired by a deep love for Japanese fermentation and a desire to share its beauty in an approachable way.
Through years of studying with traditional makers across Japan and building a loyal following at the Hollywood Farmers Market, Omiso has become more than a brand — it’s a bridge between cultures, traditions, and communities.
For this special collaboration, we’ll be sampling Miso Marinated Black Cod featuring Omiso’s signature Yuzu Miso 🍊✨ Sweet, savory, citrusy, and rich — it’s the kind of flavor that feels restaurant-quality, yet can easily be recreated at home. We’ll also be offering samples of their addictive Garlic Miso, a Japanese-style BBQ sauce perfect for grilling and everyday cooking.
What makes Omiso so special is its mission: making Japanese fermentation approachable, delicious, and naturally part of everyday life here in America. Through food, culture becomes connection — and every jar tells a story of tradition, care, and craftsmanship.
Come stop by, try the samples, and celebrate Asian American heritage with us all month long 🍣✨
