And after all these years, Chevrolet Nova continues to be a very intriguing model, especially for professionals in the restoration business. More often than not, the Nova ends up getting a new and more powerful engine for an upgrade that turns it into a small rocket on wheels.

In other words, it’s the look of the car that makes the Nova such a popular model. But this 1972 example that spent nearly four decades in storage might actually be ready for a full restoration to factory specifications.

And it’s all because the original engine is still in there, despite the long tenure in hiding. It’s a six-cylinder unit, that’s true, so it’s not necessarily the most compelling engine, but those who are looking for the original glory might actually be happy to hear that the stock powerplant is still under the hood.

Other than that, the condition of the car can easily be observed in the photos published on facebook by seller woklejas2q6d. They claim the Nova was purchased when they owned a new car dealership in Southern California, and the whole idea behind the acquisition was to keep the Chevy for later restoration.

The process, however, has never started, so the 1972 Nova now comes in the same condition, with no restoration work performed.

Some basic fixes have already been made, including the installation of a new battery and the cleaning of the fuel system, so the Nova now runs and drives. However, it shouldn’t be considered road-worthy just yet, and it obviously requires plenty of work, especially in terms of metal.

The bidding is currently underway, and the top offer at the time of writing is $3,750, with the auction projected to come to an end in approximately 8 days.

Now manufactured alongside the Camaro at GM’s plant in Norwood, Ohio, the 1972 Nova was also offered with a Rally package adding a new suspension. This option eventually became rather popular for buyers throughout the year, accounting for an important share of the total sales.

The standard engine remained the 250-ci (4.1-liter) six-cylinder, but of course, there were several other more powerful choices, including the 350-ci (5.7-liter) V8 installed on the original Nova you see here.

Currently listed for sale on Craigslist, this Nova comes with a promise that’ll easily catch the attention of those aiming for nothing than the real deal. It’s all original, so it still comes with the factory engine, power steering, air conditioning, and several other parts which can be seen in the photo gallery embedded in this article. The Chevy also features the original automatic transmission installed by the GM brand 48 years ago.

The car has been mostly stored in a garage, though as you can easily tell with just a quick look in the gallery, this doesn’t mean it comes in tip-top shape. On the other hand, rust shouldn’t be a concern either, which is something rather critical given we’re talking about a model that has never been restored.

Needless to say, some improvements obviously would be required should you want a Nova in mint condition, and the owner does say in the ad the car needs new upholstery. The odometer indicates 42,000 miles (67,592 km), and the Nova comes with a clean California title.

As for the price, the seller says you should be able to take the car home on its wheels (because yes, it still runs) in exchange for $11,000,
