School may be back in session and the days are definitely getting shorter, but the weather dial is still stuck on SUMMER! Hope you’re staying cool out there.

Keep all your Milkfarm faves properly chilled with one of our insulated cooler bags! Perfect for swaddling cuts of cheese, packages of prosciutto, and tall boys of beer, these handsome bags even have a handy side pocket for your water bottle (or a bottle of wine).

When we decided to carry insulated bags, we went through a rigorous design process to make sure our bags were as versatile and useful as we could make them. They even have a protective plastic sheet that keeps food from directly touching ice or ice packs.

These bags are available near the front of the shop. Be sure to ask our mongers for an ice pack at checkout!

Enriched with cream and sporting a thin, velvety rind, St. Stephen is a customer favorite at Milkfarm. Makes perfect sense; it’s about as crowd pleasing of a cheese as you can find.

The flagship cheese from Four Fat Fowl, St. Stephen comes from the Hudson Valley in New York. It’s a family affair: the cheese is made by W***y Bridgham, sold by sales director Sarah Bridgham, and supported by operations manager Josie Madison. This family is dedicated to making excellent cheese and sharing it with the world beyond the Hudson Valley.

There’s not much to need to do to serve a wheel of St. Stephen; simply unwrap, set out a spreader, and surround with crackers of all sorts. That said, no cheese pairs better with sweet things: jams, fresh fruit, honey, even a few hunks of dark chocolate will make the perfect post-dinner cheese plate. If you happen to have a chilled bottle of sparkling wine, break it out for St. Stephen! The bubbles will cut through the rich cheese.

Out here on the mean streets of Eagle Rock, the mongers at Milkfarm have more street cred than anyone. As of yesterday, we also have Street Ched! Say hello to this beautifully aged wheel of Street Ched, a clothbound cheddar from Urban Stead Cheese in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Urban Stead Cheese was founded by Scott Robbins and Andrea Seifring-Robbins in the middle of one of Ohio’s biggest cities, famously devoid of space for raising cows. They partner with a 3rd generation Ohio Valley farm, Bohl’s Jerseys, located just 50 miles outside of Cincinnati. The milk is exceptional stuff; Jersey cows are prized by cheesemakers for their particularly rich and flavorful milk.

That incredible Jersey milk gets curdled, cut, salted, stacked and pressed into the iconic truckle shape before being bound in cloth and aged for at least 16 months. By the time it arrives at Milkfarm it’s got an intoxicating grassy aroma and a wonderfully crumbly interior. Just look at that crossection! Sweet and tangy with a mile long finish, this is the perfect snacking cheese but would also be great stirred into mac and cheese or shredded over a bowl of chili.

We can’t wait for you to try this incredible American cheddar, and many thanks to Scott and Amanda for their hard work!

Named for a beloved former member of the Milkfarm staff, The Claudine is one of Milkfarm’s classic sandwiches. A salami sandwich topped with alpine cheese, herbed butter and thinly sliced cucumber, it’s simple and satisfying, the perfect thing for your lunch break that won’t have you dozing off when yo clock back in.

While we typically offer to toast any baguette sandwich, The Claudine is a definite No Toast situation. The cucumbers are at their crispy best at room temp. With the weather heating up (again!), consider trying this sando to keep cool as long as possible. Have a great week!

Get excited, because after a year of waiting, Dandy Charmer has returned!

Produced by our friends at Parish Hill Creamery, Dandy Charmer was originally meant as a one-off cheese for Vermonters only. After making Taleggio at the Science Craft Cheese Conference, co-owner Peter Dixon decided to try recreating it, using raw sheep milk from Emily Amanna. Peter also decided to wash the cheese in homemade Dandelion wine, something his mother taught him to make.

The cheese was clearly a success, as what was supposed to be a limited run has turned into an annual tradition. This year’s version has been washed with elderflower wine, an equally delicious brew that adds a few different notes to the Charmer musical scale.

Enjoy this cheese sliced as is on a cheeseboard, maybe along side a sliced baguette and another fantastic product from Vermont: some Blake Hill Strawberry and Rose preserves.

Like a meaty whirlpool, this cross section of pancetta really draws you in. Made up in Berkeley by the meat mavens at Framani (now in its 20th year!), this smoked pancetta is heavenly: rich, tender, with a gentle kiss of smoke.

Eaten throughout Italy, pancetta is often seen in this rolled shape, called arrotolata. The seasoned pork belly is rolled up, fat side out, and secured in a casing or netting to ensure it stays together as it finishes curing. This practice is a bit more common in Northern Italy; in the south, pancetta is often a flat piece of pork belly.

Consider treating this pancetta just like bacon; it crisps up great! It’s also nice as is, sliced thinly and piled high on a baguette, maybe with some fontina and a dab of chopped Calabrian peppers.

For the first time, Milkfarm is carrying a wheel of cheese from South America! Say hello to Flor de Montaña, a crumbly, complex and crowd pleasing goat cheese from Colombia. Our homemade trap didn’t work but the cheese is fantastic!

Made from the milk of a single herd of goats that graze freely in the lush Andean highlands, Flor de Montaña is made by Mousetrap Creamery (or as it’s known in Spanish speaking countries, Queseria la Ratonera). Aged for 4-6 months, wheels of Flor de Montaña sport natural rinds that add a hint of mushroomy funk to the crisp, salty interior. Fans of pecorinos and aged alpines should give this cheese a shot.

This cheese is so unique and so tasty that it’s flying out the door! We’re certain to sell out before the weekend ends, so stop by ASAP to try some for yourself.

For nearly two decades, Coro Foods has been making salumi up in the great state of Washington. Founded by women looking to shake up the offerings available for a charcuterie platter, Coro’s salamis go well beyond classic flavors. Garlic? Black pepper? Fennel seeds? Mere jumping off points for the meaty minds at Coro.

Their flagship Classic salami has some ginger tossed in alongside garlic, sugar and red wine. Finocchiona, typically a fennel salami, contains a touch of curry powder. And their Lemongrass salami is something you’d never find in Tuscany, a dynamic and aromatic salami that will surprise and delight any discerning snacker.

To showcase these flavor-packed salami, try serving with cheeses that will provide a nice rhythm track for the salami to solo over. Think creamy Bergamino di Bufula, a few shards of sharp cheddar, or maybe a particularly luscious wedge of blue. Some honey would provide a nice kiss of sweetness.

Another ASC Gold medalist has taken its place in the Milkfarm cheese case! Winner of the 2026 Best farmstead sheep cheese aged over 60 days, it’s Freisago from Shepherd’s Way Farms!

In production since 1998, Freisago is the flagship cheese of Shepherd’s Way. Each wheel is hand made by Jodi Ohlsen Read using milk from the farm’s herd of dairy sheep. The natural rind is a beautiful showcase for the terroir of Minnesota; it will often sport little red blots of Sporendonema casei, a naturally occurring mold that is commonly found on sheep cheese.

Friesago is a mild but memorable cheese, perfect for snacking and cooking. It will be a fine addition to any cheeseboard, and a handful of chopped Friesago would be a lovely addition to a chopped antipasto salad.

One of France’s most acclaimed cheeses is almost always on hand at Milkfarm! These wheels of farmstead Camembert are a classic on any cheeseboard.

First made in Normandy in the town of Camembert over 200 years ago, these small wheels of cheese are inoculated with a culture that shares their name: penicillium camemberti. Penicillium camemberti produces the fluffy white rinds we expect on Brie-style cheeses, and often provides an earthy, mushroomy flavor to the wheel.

And if you check the packaging, you’ll see these are Camembert Fermier, which translates to farmstead. What does that mean? A farmstead cheese is made by the same people who raise the animals (you know, a farmer) and usually allows for a level of care and attention that is reflected in the final wheel. Farmstead cheeses are very expressive of place and are often highly prized by cheese lovers.

When many people think of fish roe, they think of caviar, small pearls of cured fish roe that can be used as a garnish or enjoyed as is as a kind of spread. While there’s no denying the seductive luxury of a few beads of sturgeon or salmon caviar, seafood fans should really try another version of cured fish roe: bottarga!

While similar items are produced across the globe, bottarga is the name used in southern Italy, where coastal communities have been curing fish roe for generations. Most Italian bottarga is made with tuna or, more commonly, mullet. The row sacks are pressed and cured with salt, creating a block of sliceable, shareable bottarga! Packed with umami, a piece of bottarga has an incredible seawater aroma and a firm, slightly fudgy texture. Smoking over Florida buttonwood (a regional favorite for smoked fish) adds a delicate dash of smoke to the bouquet.

This bottarga is actually made here in the States by Cortez Conservas, a company based in Florida that uses wild caught grey mullet. Never tried bottarga? Try it grated over a bowl of garlicky pasta or shaved into thin coins and dressed with lemon and olive oil on a crostini.

Meet the star of your next salad…Feta Voras from Greece! Named for Mount Voras, one of the country’s highest peaks, Feta Voras is made in the north of Greece, in the province of Florina.

Feta Voras is made from sheep milk with a touch of goat milk. Traditionally, herds of sheep often graze alongside a goat or two, and cheese was often made with a mixture of both milks. Why? Goats are often placed in sheep herds as a way to calm sheep, as the confident goats will provide leadership and reassurance to the easily spooked sheep. As anyone who has worked with sheep knows, they can use all the help they can get. 🐑

Salty, creamy, and tangy, Feta is a great all-purpose finishing cheese, perfect for adding a bit of piquancy to a pasta salad or wood-fired pizza. It goes without saying it’ll make the best Greek salad of your life.

Arriving from a distant, dairy-rich galaxy called Philadelphia, we’ve got a fresh batch of Intergalactic from Perrystead Dairy!

Founded in 2021, Perrystead has been on the forefront of American cheese innovation, constantly striving to develop original cheeses using ancient techniques. Founder Yoav Perry has been working with cheese for nearly two decades, and his queso creations are astounding, the kind of cheeses that your monger will be overjoyed to introduce you to.

Intergalactic is Perrystead’s most famous creation and a great example of their cheesemaking philosophy. Intergalactic is coagulated with cardoon thistle instead of animal rennet. A technique that dates to the Roman Empire, thistle rennet is used to produce delicately soft cheeses with an unmistakeable vegetal tang that’s unique and addictive.

Watch this page for any other Perrystead cheeses that make their way to Milkfarm. Have a great weekend!

Too hot to turn on the oven? We hear ya. Swing by Milkfarm for a freshly backed chocolate chip cookie!

Made with a recipe created by our founder Leah (a former pastry chef) these cookies are baked fresh every day (if you stop in right at opening time, there’s a good chance you’ll smell them fresh out of the oven). They’re the perfect balance of crisp and soft, and are absolutely packed with chocolate chips. We finish them with some Jacobsen Salt Co. Sea Salt to offset the sweetness.

They’re sweet and salty and the perfect afternoon treat for young and old. Ask about adding on a dozen next time you order a cheese board! Be warned, there is always a chance we sell out before the end of the day. If you want to guarantee yourself a cookie for later in the day, give us a call and we’ll save one for you.

Made of 100% sheep milk, Le Zette’s Creamy Labneh is rich and silky, perfect for dipping crudite or spreading on a sandwich.

Popular across the globe, Labneh is essentially yogurt that’s been strained to remove the whey, creating an especially dense texture. While it comes from a different part of the Mediterranean, this process is also how Greek yogurt is made.

Le Zette blends their labneh with olive oil and a touch of garlic to create a smooth dip with an almost whipped texture. It’s a perfect showcase for ultra-rich sheep milk. Pick up a jar today and be surprised how often you find yourself pulling it out of the fridge.

It’s back! Fresh in from Jalisco, we’ve got blocks of Menonita in the shop from Quesos Navarro!

Quesos Navarro is the first Mexican creamery to export cheese to the US. Founded in 1961 by Don Alberto Navarro Cruz and Doña Soledad González, Quesos Navarro is located in Los Altos de Jalisco, a region long famous for dairy production. The company began exporting cheese in 2019, and their acclaim has grown as people outside of Mexico get to know their wonderful cheeses.

Menonita gets its name from the Mennonite communities of Chihuahua that introduced this cheese to the country. It’s a medium-firm melting cheese, comparable to a mild cheddar or Monterey Jack. It’s a kid friendly option for a cheeseboard, and a great cheese to cook with. It’s the perfect cheese to stuff inside chile rellenos, stir into tuna casserole, or grate on top of a bowl of chili.

Stichelton is one of the UK’s best blue cheeses! Fans of Stilton will be right at home; in many ways, Stichelton is as traditional of a Stilton as you can find.

When Stilton was granted PDO status by the EU in 1996, one of the requirements was the use of pasteurized milk. That’s a bit odd…usually PDO requirements involve raw milk, in an attempt to preserve traditional cheesemaking. The pasteurized requirement was down to encourage more cheese production, but ultimately discouraged the production of traditional raw milk Stilton.

When Randolph Hodgson and Joe Schneider decided to bring back a raw milk version, they were unable to call it Stilton. They took the name Stichelton from the Old English spelling of Stilton found in the Domesday Book (completed in 1086).

This is a beautiful wedge of a beautiful wheel and it tastes phenomenal! Expect a wide spectrum of flavors, everything from sautéed mushrooms to green apple to black licorice.
