Update on Garden:
We have been harvesting in the last couple weeks. It's been pretty busy.
Half runner greenbeans and bush lake beans. Have done pretty good this season so far.
Our cucumbers 🥒 have been doing ok. Not the best but not too bad up until the last 2 weeks. The lack of rain has been a battle. But we are getting some rain this weekend and looks like the end of next week. Much needed.
We have gotten some squash and zucchini. But the squash bugs overwhelmed us this last week. So we are in process of replanting some of those.
We have corn coming up now along with potatoes. And watermelon and more half runners we planted a few weeks ago.
We did some more planting this week. 🥒 cucumbers and cantaloupe and cabbage and pumpkins.

We've been busy canning also. Beans, peaches, strawberries. Starting on some mix vegetables this week.

Went on a grocery run to Garden this evening. ☺️

Our weekly Garden up.
The Half-runner green beans are running up and starting to go over the fence trellis. The broccoli is getting huge although no heads have started yet. Sunflowers are over top of everything. We have been harvesting the lettuce and spinach and Kale, also the Dill. Strawberry plants are starting to spread. We are getting some zucchini and squash starting to grow.
Our Nasturtium flowers are blooming and the marigolds (french) are huge and starting to bloom.
Peppers are still behind a bit but are starting to shoot up. I think the transplanting took them a week to recuperate. The cabbage looks like it got hit by something. Not sure what it was. The cucumber beetles we were facing a few weeks ago. I think we got them under control. We were on them quick when they appeared picking them and disposing them in a container with water. We also tried a fly trap with only water it in, hung near the beetle activity area. And surprisingly it work at catching quite a few of them. We will be added more of those to keep on hand for future outbreaks. But 2 days of heavy picking then just picking them few, we would come across seem to have them under control. We still see the random one. We finally have seen lady bugs. So happy about that. Not alot of bee activity though. Going to try to get a hive placed on the property soon.

Weekly Garden update:
Things are making big strides this week.
● We have also been dealing with a cucumber beetle issue. They arrived this past weekend over night and it's been mornings picking them off. 1 recommendation when dealing with these, is getting them early in the morning. They don't move or really fly away if you can catch them early. We are choosing to not use any other methods except physical remove currently. We did mix a little garlic and water together and it seems they don't like to go on the areas we spray with the garlic. 2 days of hard picking them and we seem to have them under control to a degree. Very few in the morning now. I'll post a picture below for those wondering what they look like.
☆ But other than that, the garden is really taking off.
●The chickens are loving the kale and spinach they can pick through fence. We planted those and some Dill and things in areas they can reach. They can only reach so far, so it's a win win they can get a tasty treat and we can still have plenty for the table.

We check in on the Garden today. We have lots going on this week. Broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, kale, spinach, zucchini, peas, sunflowers, half-runners, bush beans, tomatoes(red, yellow, purple). Dill, oregano, hyssop, and more. All growing good. Also have strawberries doing good. The weather is finally warming up nice and with the added rain, this should be some great growing times in the next few weeks. If you haven't started anything. Now is a good time to get those seeds and starters in the ground. Our chickens are loving the weeding we are doing this time of year. They come running for there treats. Show us what you have going on in your garden this week.😁
