The last day of spring presented us with a gorgeous morning for our Market. No relief from the heat, but beautiful blue skies as our vendors gathered in the LUHCA Plaza. I believe we had around 25 vendors for our Market.
The day was busy all around town with the Texas Tech Museum featuring the West Texas Wildlife Reserve, which brought 100's of people in to see and experience just what an important job they do. The For The Kids benefit celebrated it's 14th annual gathering of musicians, playing to raise funds and awareness for The Lubbock Children's Home. It was a busy day with other activities all around the city.

We opened and got right down to business with our Farmers leading the way with a beautiful array of fruits and vegetables. We are thrilled to begin to offer fresh produce including, tomatoes (yay) carrots, several varieties of squash, onions, jalapeno peppers, and DELICIOUS peaches. That's a great start, and we are expecting lots more produce to show up in the coming weeks. For our customers who are SNAP recipients, we encourage you to arrive early in order to take advantage of our double your dollars offer on all our fresh produce. That really is sound advice for all our customers...beat the heat and come early.

It's great talking to our out of town visitors, and folks who are moving to Lubbock. We had visitors from Midland and Lovington, New Mexico and a young couple moving here from Alabama. We hope that our community will keep in mind that folks visiting Lubbock always seem to enjoy a stroll through our Market, so make it a point to bring your summer guests out to meet us.

The pace is casual. The setting is accommodating with concrete surfaces and ramps for our wheelchair and baby stroller customers. Friendly faces and great conversation with our vendors make for a relaxed shopping environment. AND we have great music provided by Snail Farm!

We invite our canine owners to bring out their dogs, and let them be a part of the Market experience. We have Dirt City Dog Biscuits providing all natural homemade dog treats for our canine customers! We present one visiting dog our Red Bandana for being our Tornado Industrial/Arts Dog of the Day. Oops, make that TWO winners! Jack and Benny are a traveling pair and they both deserve a Red Bandana. They are beautiful dogs. And we had a Tornado Industrial/Arts Snake of the Day too! Say hi to Fanta. This beautiful python is welcome back anytime. He was so well behaved!

Don't forget our vendors are small businesses that greatly appreciate your support and offer a variety of goods for your gift giving or personal needs. We have children's summer wear, jewelry, hats, purses and handmade soaps. We have a new vendor who makes tallow based lotions. Well, just stop by and see all the great things we offer!

Next week we will be setting up in the Charles Adams Studio Project area directly across the street from the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts on 5th and Ave. J. We will be there from 9:00am to 1:00pm offering great home grown produce and great gift ideas. Come out and see what a great little Market we have for you in downtown Lubbock.

KID'S Corner: The Lubbock Downtown Farmers Market announces the return of Kid's Corner to our market. This season Claro Dental will sponsor our special kid's area with fun events for your children! This week's events includes a mini golf game and a ball toss game. Bring your children to the LDFM this Saturday for family-friendly fun and games.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the June 20th market. The June 20th market was our fourth market of the 2026 season. Our vendors had lots of great produce, prepared food, and creative arts. Be sure to come early for the best selection of produce as some specific choices go quick. The LDFM is very dog friendly and well-behaved pets are welcome at our market. Today we had a double Dog of the Day edition. These good looking dogs are Benny & Jack. This pair was chosen as the Tornado Industrial/Arts "Dogs of the Day" for the June 20th market! We hope to see everyone back next Saturday at the LDFM (5th Street & Avenue J) from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
