It’s easy to get into your own little world out here and shut out the rest of the world. But sometimes the world likes to come in anyway and slap you in the face.
Hug your loved ones today, reach out to that friend you haven’t spoken to in awhile. You never know if you’ll have the chance again, some are taken far to soon.

I was filling the water softener earlier, that thing holds 350lbs of salt. Made me wonder what I move on a normal day. Around 300lbs of feed and water, never mind the baby or anything else.

Today was around 670lbs since I added in the salt. If you haven’t met me that’s a little over 6 me’s for the day.

Busy getting everything ready for colder weather and catching up on some things that fell behind during EMT classes I took this summer. Now that I’ve completed and passed all that I have a little more free time.

In between it all I managed to get a pic of this pretty boy who hatched out here this spring. Based on how he’s constantly adding color (he was pure white a few weeks ago) I’m guessing Pretty Boy our old rooster who passed a couple weeks ago was his dad.

Splash the rooster was my travel buddy the other day. Splash can ride any day, he was very well behaved. Geese and guineas on the other hand, do not make good travel buddies.

I’ve still got some pork available that will be going to the butcher in the next couple months. Raised outdoors with a varied diet for better meat quality/flavor.

Unfortunately I won’t have chickens this fall, the year has been rough on birds. I do have several geese available though.

(I don’t foresee getting in another batch of broilers soon, if that changes I’ll update)

Not sure this sunrise officially qualifies as a red sky, as it’s more orangish like 🤔

However did you know there’s truth to the saying Red sky at night, sailors delight, red sky in morning sailors take warning?

Red skies in the morning indicate possible stormy weather, red sky at night means fair weather the next day.

That said it only holds true if the weather systems are moving West to East, if they happen to be moving South to North the saying holds no bearing.

I watch the news every morning. Some days there are nice stories. But on days like today, when it’s nothing but disaster and sad things, (I’m not getting political here) remind yourself to look for the good in the world, and if you can’t find it, be it.

Meanwhile the chickens are molting and the pigs are getting huge.
