I know it sure doesn’t feel like spring will be coming anytime soon, but we know it will be. And we know what that means! Yep, our new season of maple syrup making. And you all know what that means, you need to get your personal jars to us if you want to get them filled. And just a reminder that we do have rules that must be followed. I will list them below.
Your jars must be clean! That includes new jars that you just bought. They have a smell that will transfer to the syrup. If the jars are not clean or washed, we will not fill them. Please make sure that you have rings and lids in the box with the jars. Please make sure that the jars you bring are standard US measurement jars as in half pint, pint, quart, etc.. if you have something special that you want to fill measure it and write on it what it is in ounces.
Your jars must be in a BOX, size appropriate for the amount of jars you want filled. DO NOT BRING THEM IN A BAG AS WE CANNOT CARRY THEM WHEN THEY ARE FULL IN A BAG! No jars stacked on top of each other and the box can’t be too big for the amount of jars. The box must have your name and phone number on it. Also, it is helpful if you won’t pick them up until summer if you put that on the box.
You may bring your jars anytime, but definitely you want to have them here by around 1 March or so. You can bring them to the blue house next to The Roadside store and leave them on my small deck by my back door if nobody is home if you have any questions, feel free to call me (Susan) at 231-690-2275. No, I do not know what the price will be. I am thinking it will be the same as last year which was $14.50 a quart cash price and a little more than that if you use a credit card to cover the fees. As soon as we have had a discussion and checked on market price, I will post the cost.
