We look for natural ways to shade the chickens in the summer heat. We do use industrial fans throughout chicken city, but the afternoon sun can still be brutal on the chickens that are west facing. Here we have a loofa plant that needs to vine coupled with a very thankful Tatum for some relief in this heat.

Our grass cuttings always end up in the flower pots so we just rotate the grass flower pots through the chickens for some maintenance w**d pulling. They do a great job cleaning out the pots.

We got a call about 2 weeks ago that a baby chick was being bullied and was separated at the store with damaged eyes. We were given 2 bantam friends to keep it company and help as support friends. We are happy to report that Baby Beans is doing well healing the skin around her eyes. We wait to see if she has sight. For now her bantam friends are directing her to the food/water and we are giving her lots of snuggles. Baby Beans, pictured at the bottom of this picture, welcome to the farm. We are excited to see the great joy you will share here.

Pardon our pause from posting for a while. We’ve been laying low through the winter season.

Today, Belvedere reminded us why we are here. He’s the oldest rescue here. He’s a big guy but he has soulful eyes and a gentle soul. He tried to give me a treat like I was one of his girls so when I collected it I thanked him and carried on with chores. He has not let us put any hens or roosters in with him, except a few years back he bunked with Bill, who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. He’s been alone ever since, just like his origin story of his first farm where he was left in the trees to fend for himself as a lone stranger. Belvedere has landed here with us to let him know that we can honor his wishes to be left alone from others in the avian world but that he still has friends in us.

Yes. It’s true that chickens slow down their egg production in the winter if they are warm laying breeds. But did you know there are birds that are bread for colder climates? We’ve had a mix of both cold and warm laying hens. If you are in need of eggs please reach out. We operate on a first come first serve basis but want to make sure we spread the nourishment as far as we can. We have a farm number with USDA and although we are donation based we follow the rules as if we were to sell them so we can keep people safe with food handling. If you are interested in picking up a carton of eggs please reach out by commenting below or messaging us. Stay warm and safe!

Are you in need of bread before the storm hits? We are currently baking a 1.5lb loaf we can deliver (locally) today before the storm hits. Free of charge. We just want to make sure people are fed. We can deliver eggs with it if you need those too. This loaf will be ready in about 2 hours if you want it. Stay safe! Stay warm!

Anything in a glass jar will be pulled soon. If you want anything that is in a glass jar I’ll be happy to bring it out from inside. There will still be a phone number on the farm stand to call if you want anything. Stay warm!

We have some pantry staples that were left for anyone who needs them. Come grab them.

If you want eggs from the chickens you hear when you are at the stand please call the number on the stand tag and we will bring you some. They are usda compliant so they are washed, sanitized and refrigerated.

For gps purposes please use address 10750 Mountain Road Luttrell TN. Our address is hard to find and the stand is in front of this home that’s been well established for decades. When coming from Emory road use the second gravel driveway after turning on mountain road. You’ll see a brown music studio sign at the first gravel driveway; if you see that go one more down. There is a red number sign (10744) at the second gravel driveway. Turn there. You can follow the gravel driveway to the left when you leave and it will circle you back up to mountain road & turn right to go back to Emory. If you accidentally go the other way on mountain road, it’s ok; mountain road leads to Washington pike and that can lead you back to Emory road. If you have any questions about directions please message us. We know we are super easy to get to once you know the way but the gravel road is not labeled so it is hard if you are unfamiliar.
