Nature provides all the beauty, and the arrangements follow the changing seasons. One just need to look around to find the offerings that are all around. This seems obvious to me now, but it wasn’t until one or two years ago when I read it in .willburn blog. Thank you, Marianne!

The last days have been wonderful here in western NY. Beautiful skies and warm temperatures. The bees are tucked in and ready to endure winter.

I was going to cut some Cosmos today to press and use in my cards, but just couldn’t. There are not others flowers available for the bees in this unseasonably warm day, so let them have these beauties for themselves.

Today I started to create some pressed flower cards for the holiday season. These will be for sale at Elmwood Village farmer’s market on Saturday - as a bunch of others not holiday related.

Tomorrow Bees’ Gold Honey will have blueberry jam at the Elmwood Village farmer’s market. I picked up 20 lbs of the berries at the Pepper’s Blueberry Hill farm, in Franklinville. I was told that the only spray these berries get is rain water. They were mostly small but very sweet. It took me 1h for each 2lbs of fruit. I will make the math for you: 10h picking blueberries. I will not complain: the weather was gorgeous! The jam’s only ingredients are the fruit, sugar and fresh squeezed lemon juice. It turned out splendid! The whole experience was so fulfilling… Being able to create a delicious and nutritious food from scratch fed my soul.

Pressed flowers. Sending love in an old and beautiful fashion way. Creating these cards brings me so much joy, from collecting the flowers to arranging them.

Yesterday Fabio attended a workshop at Pen State on raising honeybee queens by grafting, which means transferring one day old larvae to special cups, which the worker bees then feed and care for until they develop into new virgin queens. Photos show a larva in the cup under a microscope (it is less than 1 millimeter in length), some grafting tools, name of the lab, their bee-yard used for research and a mated queens (the one with a red dot on her thorax). Last is a fully capped developing queen cell, which he had grafted last week). Hopefully these will be his beautiful new daughters…

These honey gift boxes are very delicate and we need to be careful transporting them. These contain two honey jars - one fall, one summer- and a honey spoon. They will be available at the Elmwood Village farmer’s market,at Bidwell Parkway, in Buffalo, from 8am to 1pm. If you mom likes honey, this is an unique gift for mother’s day. We are very excited about participating of this wonderful market!
