he 1890's, to more recently known as the Machias Hardware Store (est. 1950), We reopened (Machias River General Store) in 2019 with a deep respect for the past-right down to the original oiled wood floors. We carry a wide variety of goods you won't find in modern chain stores: handmade Maine-made products, classic penny candy, local pottery, hand-operated kitchen tools, cast iron cookware, eco friendly kitchenware, and foods from around the world. We've also expanded our natural food section to include bulk herbs, grains, spices, candy, dried fruits, local honey, local maple syrup, local coffee and a selection of organic teas and products.
