Time for early summer bounty!! It's asparagus and rhubarb season!! Garden plants are ready!

15 YEARS ✨🧄 of not buying garlic! 😲

Broke into my last “fresh” garlic bulb harvested at the beginning of last August!! We still have plenty in the freezer to last us past this summers harvest.

Plus scapes to enjoy in early summer too!!

🧄 I plant about 200-230 cloves yearly for my family. This also gives enough for a small amount for our winter Wellness CSA, as well as garlic for preserving salsa, etc. -> and it doesn’t take up that much space!!

🧄 Plant in late October and harvest in late July. Mulch well and weeding is easier. I would say it’s an easier crop to grow.

🧄Easy to store! After curing (basically spreading out on a screen and ignoring it for 2-3 weeks while it dries) we simply store in a basket or mesh bags in our basement in the coolest area. Freezing cloves before they spoil, or dry out.

🧄 About 20-25% of your harvest will be your seed for the next planting!! The only reason I have had to spend money on new seed is if I wanted to try a new variety, or there was disease present.

Homegrown or not, garlic is an EASY crop to buy 100% Minnesota grown and so good for you!!

✨17 years!✨

Happy anniversary Johnny!! I can’t believe how MANY big adventures we have had. How many BIG decisions we have made together. How we have EVOLVED together.

Still so much to come!!

Fun fact, we got married on the bog walk in Lake Bemidji State Park. Looking forward to our visit there this summer!

Couldn’t run this farm with just one of us - it takes our different strengths and talents, vision and drive. ❤️🌿✨
