SNAP recipients: this summer, your benefits can go even farther on local produce!
Alongside the ongoing Double Up Food Bucks program, through August 31st participating farmers markets and stores - including Village Greengrocer - are offering a new program called Bonus Bucks. For every dollar you spend on Double Up-eligible items with your EBT card, receive a matching amount that can be spent on more produce. (Double Up-eligible items are NM-grown produce, which includes fresh fruits and vegetables, food-producing plant starts, dried pinto beans and chile pods.)
In addition to supplementing the federal supplemental nutrition program, this helps keep more money in our community. Village Greengrocer is a hyper local business dedicated to building and sustaining local food systems: connecting our neighbors with the food producers in our area, supporting food justice and security, and providing a reliable and accessible resource for fresh food in our rural neighborhood. We’re grateful to the association for facilitating these important grants that support access to local food for all, and support New Mexico farmers in getting their food to more people.
