A couple of extraordinary things happened the other day. I came home & in my driveway were 4 Vredestein Quatrac Pro tires thanks to from Spikes Car Radio, & Sam Cosby . Then an hour later Aaron from a mobile tire installation truck shows up to install my 4 new Vredestein Tires…The old tires came off & the Vreds went on my “new” old Range Rover in less than an hour…
Over the many, many, many 😂 years I’ve had tires installed it was never this fast, efficient & enjoyable.
But the most extraordinary part of this story are the amazing Vredestein tires. Besides being a great looking tire these Quatrac pros have completely changed my driving experience. The ride is much smoother, it handles better than it ever has & more quiet than any tire I’ve had in the past… it’s made driving in a 17 year old car a joy! 46 years ago I was KISS’S Road Manager for a little over a year. Here I’m leading them through the kitchen in the Budakon Arena to the stage in Tokyo ,Japan.
A day earlier we arrived at the Tokyo airport to 20,000 fans surrounding the airport. Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter got off the plane in costume & makeup. We were shuttled to a Customs bathroom so the boys could take off their make up. Identify themselves with their passport pictures( which took 3 min) then they went back into the bathroom & re-applied their makeup (1 hr & half) before they were escorted to the limousines surrounded by fans. They were called the American Rock & Roll Kabuki…That first trip all over Japan was Historic…what an experience for a 22 year old(me) from Brooklyn, N.Y.
46 years later KISS is one of the most successful bands in history. And, I’ve done a few things in those 46 years… 22 of them I owned Malibu Kitchen in the heart Malibu…. Last night after 44 years I spent some time with one of my past employers….Paul Stanley. We drank Arnold Palmers ( just like the old days, yeah right) & we both told stories & lots of memories…and I showed him the sketch he made of me while we were waiting to take off in a hot Convair 440 prop plane in Calgary, Canada in the dead of summer…funny now, 46 years later…
It was good to see him!

“There’s a new Porch in town”
Had lunch with some dad friends & their sons at Zinque (Malibu’s newest restaurant) they made it very clear how much they miss the old Malibu Kitchen & the Porch but they were very happy with the Coffee, baguette & burrata, soup, service & the their version of a Porch… it was a fun lunch! And then came the walk to their ride’s…
30 year old 911 GT (less than 5k miles) & a GT4rs in a beautiful blue! It was a good day!
We all left happy! We’ll be back!
