We had some drama today with the finch couple. I did some googling and the male juvenile finch can be another of their offspring who due to hormonal changes attacks their parents😳 or another juvenile male competing for territory. I feel like the first option is way too relatable.

We have a new finch couple making a nest in our tree. You can see the male only has one eye but he’s very vigilant and stands guard while she builds. Unfortunately I can’t see the nest I’m still excited for babies!

A bird feeding their teenager at the bird feeder. Most of the birds I’ve looked up care for their babies for up to 2 weeks after they leave the nest. Often it is the males that teach the fledglings and feed them as the female starts a new nest.
