It's National Farmers Market Week! 🍉

The Downtown Market offers visitors food with unrivaled taste and freshness and offers economic benefits of farm-direct marketing. One recent study discovered that, “for every dollar of sales, direct marketers are generating twice as much economic activity within the region, as compared to producers who are not involved in direct marketing.” The study goes on to reveal that for every $1 million in revenue, direct-market farms create almost 32 local jobs whereas larger wholesale growers create only 10.5.

While direct-market farmers rely on you—their neighbors—to grow their businesses, they return the favor. The farmers source locally buying their supplies (“inputs” in farm-speak) from local businesses. Because direct-marketing farmers are much more likely to patronize local businesses, the dollars that you spend at the farmers market stay in your community longer—they may even wind-up back in your pocket!

Guess where we will be this Saturday? The Downtown Market will be moving to the College of the Albemarle Dare Campus this coming Saturday, July 27th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The 22nd Annual One Design Regatta will be at the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum and George Washington Creef Park this Saturday, so we need to relocate temporarily to allow for space for both special events.

The vendors have missed everyone and can't wait to see you at the Downtown Market this Saturday, July 27th at the beautiful College of the Albemarle! 🩵

Well, it looks like it's not only visitors who like to stay in Manteo but so does this crazy weather right now. Unfortunately, we have to cancel the Downtown Market for tomorrow, July 20, 2024.

See you at the next market on Saturday, July 27th, which will be held at the College of the Albemarle, Dare Campus at 205 US Hwy. 64!

Unfortunately, the Downtown Market scheduled for tomorrow, July 13th has been canceled due to the forecasted inclement weather. You can always get your "market fix" by simply calling your favorite vendors or finding them online to get your goodies!

Scrub a dub dub - guess who is in the tub? The Dowtown Market Manager, Tammy's dog was getting all "spiffed up" today at the market, which included a special surprise at the end for her. Even our furry friends get treats at the market!

Thank you to the Outer Banks SPCA for coming out to the market today! Meet Me In Manteo with your furry best friend and help support this great organization who helps to keep our other community members healthy and safe. 🩷
