People will ask what do you do in the off season. There is no off season. Sugarbush maintenance is a must. Unfortunately this bush has seen very little maintenance since it was built. There are many areas overgrown with brush. We purchased a DR brush mower. It's a beast but turns brush into wood chips. But it does absolutely nothing for black flies.

I dislike boiling in hot weather. 70 degrees today. I won't complain,as this is only the 8 th time we have boiled here in the UP. The signs are pointing to the end maybe another week. Regardless, it has been a disappointing season.

Tonight was the last boil before Zenobia heads back to Pa for a week . Things have been slow going. We have only boiled seven times this year. We are over 1000 gals. And we still have two feet of snow in the woods. The up weather coming looks good for sap flow. We shall see.
