So much is so broken. Thankful for advocates like Dakota Rural Action.

Monsanto is arguing before the Supreme Court that their pesticides are so beneficial to farmers that they shouldn’t be held accountable for the health problems they cause. Farmers and farmworkers disagree.

Farmers and farmworkers know that shielding Monsanto from accountability benefits Monsanto’s shareholders, not us and our communities. We're among 15 groups urging the court to protect the health and dignity of the people who grow our food, not Monsanto’s profits.

All the info is in the graphic, but multiple frigid weekends have really hit Sioux Falls restaurants hard. As a result, we have tens of dozens of extra eggs this week. They're too large to fit in cartons, so you're actually getting more like 1.5-2 dozen equivalent of the standard Grade A Large commodity warehouse eggs. Plus, they're certified organic! Message or call us to take advantage of this screamin' deal!

The Homestead Act of 1862 provided for four farmsteads every square mile. And for decades, small farms dotted the countryside. But these were not just small farms--they were small businesses interdependent with town merchants, together sustaining their local economies. Over the years, these rural small businesses (i.e. small family farms), have been displaced by extractive industrial agriculture. But some of us are still here.

On this Small Business Saturday, we are so thankful for friends like all of you, who appreciate where real food comes from and whose support over the years has allowed farms like ours to persist. Thank you.
