Fresh Freddy's Farm

Fresh Freddy's Farm local family farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. known for $2 dozens throughout the pandemic and bird flu scare

Fresh Freddy's Farm is Known for our commitment to the $2 dozen throughout the pandemic and avian flu scare. As well as the amazing baked good we offer through many central U.P. farmers markets (not Marquette)

At our heart, we are a small family farm and independent producer of sustainable, free-range poultry. Operating under exemption P.L. 90-492, we fill a critical gap left by the absence of US

DA processors willing to handle locally raised poultry in the Upper Peninsula. Quality is our foremost priority—we take pride in every aspect of what we raise, ensuring our products uphold the highest standards. Beyond quality, we strive to maintain competitive prices, offering affordability without compromising on the integrity of our practices. Unlike some in our community who repackage commercial meats, we remain dedicated to authentic, locally sourced produce. Our commitment extends to sustainable agriculture practices on our 80 acres of land, supporting the local ecosystem while providing nutritious, fresh options to our community. By bridging the gap between local farms and markets, we contribute to the reduction of food insecurity across the Upper Peninsula, ensuring every household has access to fresh, locally raised produce and meats. Our mission is not just about profit, but about enriching the lives of Yoopers by delivering exceptional value and quality with every purchase.

Set to help convert 30,000 acres in central upper peninsula of abandoned hay fields back to native grass. It will take away grass forage but will help the land and keep it from eroding. Was an ambitious project and is amazing seeing it take off with the first phase. Will have all the acreage done between Houghton and Delta done before end of the month.

Becky will still have eggs for the foreseeable future.

Largely due to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources . Instead of stressing about next season and all the deer that weren't harvested and managed, there will be no 2026 season on the farm. After years of donations and serving the markets, we appreciate the support and the hate from the many people of Upper Peninsula Michigan over the years for our products and to be able to help all the people and families we have over the years despite that hate. Where our donations in some comparisons rival the food donations of billion dollar corporations in the region as just one small family farm that's not from this place...

Anything I do grow moving forward will be wholesale and due to biosecurity requirements will no longer offer gleaning. I don't plan to donate any more or ever again. When I donate more than billion dollar corporations and am .57% of the potential total venison donations for the entire state of Michigan it's time for me as one man to walk away to something else. I'm expected to be between 20-33% of the entire antlerless harvest for all of Marquette county which is 11% of the upper peninsula and of the 100+ people that said they'd come hunt does. 0 showed up. Compound that with the failures of the DNR and all I'm doing is feeding an unhealthy deer herd that the Michigan DNR isn't managing and cost us $250k in direct crop loss damages by the failures of the escanaba office. Where I was projecting at one point a $1mil+ in seed sales. Since we can't get crop tags now in 2026 due to their failures. Is no point in planning for 2026 season..

I'm sure there will be much much more news and announcements to come. This channel may become a page for random monetized content. Since Facebook content makes more than farming. But the page is what it is.

Babies are growing up and their colors are showing :) new broody hens and their babies are always fun. Rest of the farm is slowing down. But chickens are still going strong.

When your operation is one of the only ones selected In the region Cause so few operations exist at the small enterprise level. It's either backyard homesteaders, corporations or people repacking chicken like it's local. Yet still don't hit the numbers we hit solo and independent under exemption.

Oh the joys of being one of the few trying to be better.

I was surprised to learn how many homes you can put on 80 acres if you break it up in Marquette county. I was told can get zoned 150-250 homes. Alot of developers trying to bring affordable housing to Marquette Co.
