Halfway there! 🌱

Our 10th Farmer Training Program cohort has officially reached the halfway point of their 20-week field training. Over the past 10 weeks, they've been building skills like transplanting, pruning, weeding, digging, trellising and more.

Learning also means seeing what's possible after training. Last week, the trainees visited Revival Road Farm in Beverly, where they met with farmers Anna and Siedric. As a UFI Farmer Training alum, Siedric's journey is a reminder that this program is just the beginning.

The group also learned from Jennifer Hashley about how New Entry's Incubator Farm Program supports new farmers as they take the next step in building their own farms and growing their businesses.

We're proud of this cohort and excited to see what they'll accomplish in the weeks ahead!

The farm has so much to teach us 🍀💚

We've been enjoying learning how to identify plant friends with Milly, now join us at Astoria Quarter Acre Farm on July 22 to learn what we can do with them.

Milly will be leading a hands-on workshop to explore herbal infusions and how we can use herbs for wellness and skin care.

Come and spend the afternoon learning, sharing, and connecting with plants and each other.

Free and open to all.

We are excited to share that Amber Valbrun is our new President & CEO!

Amber has been an integral part of the Urban Farming Institute team, most recently serving as our Deputy Executive Director. Her passion for food justice, community, and equitable access to fresh, healthy food has helped shape UFI's work, and we are thrilled to welcome her into this new leadership role.

As we celebrate this exciting new chapter, we also honor the incredible legacy of Pat Spence and the strong foundation she helped build. Together, we look forward to continuing our work to grow healthy communities through urban farming, education, and community engagement.
