🍑 THIS SATURDAY IS A SHORT ONE! 🍑

It’s Labor Day Weekend, which means the Farmers Market will be open EARLY and ONLY from 7:30–9:00 AM this Saturday, September 5. ⏰

That’s right, 7:30–9:00 AM and then we’re done! Please plan accordingly. We’ll be packing up promptly at 9.

And there’s one more very important reason to get here early: IT’S THE LAST WEEK OF PEACHES! 😭🍑 If you’ve been waiting to stock the freezer, make jam, bake one last peach pie, or just eat as many as humanly possible, this is your moment. Once these peaches are gone, that’s it until next summer!

Matthews Alive weekend is here, which means it’s time for our annual early-bird market! 🥬 🥩 🐓 🐟 🥖 🥚

This Saturday, September 5, MCFM will have abbreviated market hours from 7:30–9:00 AM sharp. And we mean sharp. Our vendors will be packed up and ready to roll by 9:00 so they can beat the Matthews Alive crowds and traffic.

And there’s one more very important reason to set that alarm:

🍑 PEACHES: THIS IS YOUR LAST CALL! 🍑

So if you’ve been putting off that last peach cobbler, pie, batch of jam, freezer stash, or just one more perfect summer peach, now or next season, folks! 😂 This is your final chance to get your hands on them until next summer.

Come early, grab your peaches and all the fresh, local ingredients you need for your Labor Day weekend, and get out before downtown fills up with Matthews Alive crowds.

🚗 A few important parking notes:

The grassy lot off Cotton Gin Alley, behind the market, will be available for free parking until 9:00 AM for market shoppers only.

After 9:00 AM, the lot becomes a paid parking area for Matthews Alive. Please move your vehicle by 9:00 if you aren’t staying and paying to park.

S. Trade St. will also be blocked to through traffic.

⏰ 7:30–9:00 AM. Saturday only. Don’t hit snooze.

Every Labor Day weekend, the Town of Matthews comes alive with its four-day festival, Matthews Alive. To make room for this beloved annual event, and to avoid closing for the Saturday entirely, the farmers’ market shifts to a special early market with shortened hours. It’s a short but bustling morning, with all of our regular vendors packed into just 90 minutes of shopping time. This year’s Labor Day Market will be Saturday, September 5, from 7:30–9:00 AM sharp. Arrive early, bring your list, and be ready for a brisk and lively start to your weekend.

🌽❤️ Our early birds are more than just early shoppers. They’re part of the Matthews Community Farmers Market family.

Last Saturday, when we had an unexpected downed power line and power pole situation at the market, our amazing early-bird shoppers who line up hours before the opening bell didn’t hesitate to pitch in and help. They jumped in wherever they could, helped us navigate a very unusual morning, and reminded us once again what makes this community so special.

And a quick SNAP Double Up update: County funding for the program has changed. Beginning Saturday, September 5, the SNAP matching amount will change from up to $50 to up to $20 per customer per week.
