A new study of nearly 40,000 adults found that eating eggs five times a week was linked to a 27% lower Alzheimer's risk. Here is what the science shows.

Is your coop ready for the impending winter weather?

Remember that your flock's best preparation for the cold is a clean, draft free well ventilated coop. Do not rely on a heater since if you lose power, your flock will be plunged into the cold they were not ready for as well as being a fire hazard. In a well built coop the chickens are the heaters!

Remember that frost bite is a combination of cold and humidity, keep waterers OUT of your coop, and keep it clean/dry!

Other tips you can do now before the cold comes in:
-add extra shavings to your run & coop
-use plastic to wrap the run and make a chicken green house, remember to leave a 1-2in gap along the roof for ventilation!
-grab some cracked corn to feed your flock a small scoop before bed time
-add a de-icer to your flocks water, or have extra waterers to swap regularly
-close off the chicken door to conserve heat, or use freezer door vinyl flaps

A handful of disappointments 😔

Why? Because these are all boys! If you were ever interested in adding a cute serama roo, or fun color genetics to your bantam flock please message me! The two lighter have the dun gene which makes fun and pretty colored chicks! Only needs one copy to show up. The darker boy will be a handsome crele color. Seramas stay very tiny, and are generally well behaved with you and their hens.

We’re thrilled to report that our latest Serama chicks—both those hatched naturally under Salem and the incubator babies—are thriving under her expert care! Not every broody hen will accept chicks she didn’t hatch herself, but Salem? She’s a natural mama and hasn’t missed a beat with her new chicks.

These pocket-sized peepers are already following Salem everywhere, snuggling into her feathers, and learning the ropes from the best! The incubator chicks blended right in—no questions asked.

Our steadfast broody girl Salem has done it again! This devoted Silkie mama successfully hatched out the tiniest, most precious Serama chick overnight. This is why we let broodies work their natural magic!

The Size Difference Is Everything:
• Salem’s fluffy size vs. her peanut-sized baby
• The chick’s first peek from under mama’s feathers
• That proud clucking only a broody hen can make

Fun Fact: Seramas are one of the smallest chicken breed in the world, and Silkies are famously nurturing - nature’s perfect pairing!
