Trout Salad Aquaponics

Trout Salad Aquaponics We are a small aquaponic grower, producing salad greens and kitchen herbs in tandem with trout cultu What we learn will be applied to future grows.

Aquaponics uses recirculated water to grow fish and plants together. You feed the fish, and the waste becomes fertilizer for hydroponic plants. Trout Salad was born out of a desire to try out aquaponics coupled with an unused spot on my farm. The plan is to grow salad greens and table herbs in a greenhouse located in an empty cinder block trench silo. The "fishhouse" wll be located between the sil

o and the barn. The footprint of the greehouse is 7x28 feet and will house 64 square feet of floating raft plants. The fishhouse is 4x28 feet and could hold up to 200 rainbow trout. The winter 2014 production cycle will be a data collection experimental run. Any advice or input is welcome. Questions will be gladly answered. Watch for updates, photos and opportunities to participate in Trout Salad.
