Spring is officially here! This year we have expanded the farm and added new farm friends to the mix! So many new and exciting updates!
🦃 We have started hatching turkeys that will be ready for your thanksgiving table or backyard flock! They are broad breasted black/heritage mix. Dad is a big sweet boy, and moms have both attempted to brood (until they get bored 😆). We’ve hatched out 5 so far with another dozen in the incubator! We will begin taking orders for turkeys starting in September! If you want to raise your own turkey poults, we will sell them for $1️⃣5️⃣ each. Fully grown and processed will be sold by the pound (processed weight).
🦆 We started the first trial round of incubating ducks at the beginning of April with only a few eggs. We hatched 2 adorable barnyard mix cuties (though I think one is pure Ancona) that quickly stole our hearts and will be added to the flock! We have another 10 eggs set to hatch in mid May. Ducklings will be $🔟 each.
🐣 Fun news from the classroom! Both girls classes had an adventure in hatching chicks this year! A’s class hatched 3 little cuties and C’s class is hatching silkies which should be any day! Barnyard mix Chicks will be available for $5️⃣ each. Silkie chicks (limited quantity) will be $6️⃣
🦙We welcomes 7 alpacas to our farm this year! They are so fun and easy going. They help Dan mow the hill and provide adorable entertainment. They recently had their annual shearing so the garage is full of lovely raw wool fiber in an array of colors! Meet: Twiggy, Coco, Rocky, Bob (mom to Rocky and Coco), Not Bob, Abby (the sweetest girl), and Rambler (our one and only boy).
🐤 Quails! We added 4 quails to the farm, because why not! Quails begin laying eggs as early as 6 weeks!
🐇 We added 2 new bunny friends this year! Meet Captain and Floppy! These two brothers are best friends and are very sweet
🥚 We are selling eggs! Turkey, duck, and chicken! Both eating and hatching eggs are available!
🐝 Since yellowjacks killed off our whole hive last fall 😒 we will be getting more set up, so honey will be coming eventually!
🪴🌱It’s garden planting time! Seeds and starts are in the ground. We’ve expanded the garden to include 5 raised beds, and we plan to build a new greenhouse this fall so we can grow all year long!
🍒 It’s almost cherry season! Soon we will have more cherries than we know what to do with! We have both wonderful dark red cherries, Rainier cherries, and small tart pie cherries!
🫙In June we are joining forces with Oak Creek Family Farm in Yamhill to do our first canning class! Gain hands-on experience and take the fear and uncertainty out of canning and preserving your own food!
So many new and exciting things! We are learning everything as we go and it’s definitely been an adventure and lesson in patience 😅.
