We are cultivating a 3/4 acre vegetable garden, have quite a few fruit trees, and also have a variety of animals here on the farm. We plan to grow as many vegetables as possible ; from fresh salad greens, crunchy carrots, sweet corn, and robust root vegetables, to wholesome winter squashes, vine-ripened tomatoes, bountiful brassicas and lots of potatoes. We also have an acre and a half of hazelnut
trees. We got Rhode Island Red, and Gold Sexlink chicks this past month, and will have eggs available in fall 2015. We just started our first two beehives this spring as well! There have been lots of new arrivals here at Grateful Gardens! We pride ourselves in growing our vegetables without any chemical fertilizers, or pesticides. Our animals are raised without any hormones, or antibiotics. They spend their days out on the pasture enjoying the sunshine, and green grass! We use only non-GMO seeds, and feed. We strive to have a harmonious relationship with the earth, and leave as little impact as we can. At the same time, we hope to feed as many people in the community as we can. We use as many upcycled building materials as we can find, and are always trying to be creative, finding new ways to make our environment better. Through these practices, we are able to lessen our carbon footprint, and help keep waste out of the landfills. We believe the connection between ourselves and the food we eat is crucial for a happy and healthy life. We are grateful for the bountiful harvests our hard work brings for us, and everyone that we are able to share them with. Gratefull gardens will be selling at the grange farmers market in Mcminnville, OR on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. We are starting our first trial CSA at the end of May as well. We are accepting applications any time from now until May 20, 2015. The first week of the CSA will be May 27. Let us know if you are interested in CSA membership.
