I'm a few days late with this, but if anyone deserves an appropriate social media send off it's the myth, the legend, and the man I mysteriously can't tag in his own appreciation post: Andrew Geraci.
Andrew and I have been bandmates several times over for about a decade now. Along the way, through numerous rehearsals, load-ins/outs, soundchecks, and gigs, we became friends. And, as if that wasn't enough, we even took it a step further and became coworkers.
Not only is Andrew one of the most solid and sought after bass players in the Mid-South, but he's an exceedingly decent human being and all around mensch. He's one of those people that cares for and looks out for his people, of which there are many, no matter what (throw a guitar pick in Memphis or North Mississippi and it'll land next to a friend of Andrew Geraci).
He kept my mind at ease and my business running when I needed to step back to be with my family. He would go out of his way to help fix his mistakes and, when asked, someone else's, driving many miles for a few tomatoes or melons. Little things that matter in this business. And he did it all with a great attitude, while holding down another job, and playing with a dozen different bands at who knows how many gigs a month. All across the country.
While this picture isn't very recent or decent, it captures two goofy dudes (and a goofy dog) being friends and enjoying a fun night together. Settings, job titles, facial hair, and waste lines may have changed, but you've been steady the whole way, partner. For that, and so much more, I am grateful.
Now go have fun and learn some new s**t! We'll play a few more tunes together soon enough.
