Our Story
Torry Homestead is a 2 acre far located in the little town of Mendon, MA. I started this farm, with my dad, in 2015, after moving from the suburbs of Natick, Ma. The property had an old horse barn and a falling down pumphouse but was basically a blank slate otherwise. The yard was pretty overgrown, but together my dad and I cleaned it up again. The Barn became my dad's woodworking shop, and The pumphouse was replaced with 2 new sheds and a large enclosure. A garden was put in at the back, and the animals started coming! First 12 chickens, then goats, then more chickens, Then ducks, and now rabbits too! I certainly had my work cut out for me, but that why I got this property! The goats went to work clearing out the Japanese knotweed towards the back, the chickens and ducks close behind. The garden was expanded to fill the back of the property, with the help of a well train group of chickens and a retrofitted trailer. The farm now has a plant swap during the spring, summer, and early fall, along with a house/tropical, and holiday plant swap year round by appointment. I also sell Organic free range chicken eggs, for and coming next year will be offering Organic Handmade soap and candles. I also provide Lawn/garden care for Mendon/upton residents, and help with restoring or building a garden.
