Today, we remember September 11, 2001.
We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of the first responders and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger while others were running away.
Twenty-five years later, the world has changed in countless ways. We still disagree. We still argue. We still come from different backgrounds, hold different beliefs, and see the future of our country differently.
But there is something worth remembering today:
We are still Americans.
This is a remarkable country. From the quiet beauty of our rivers and beaches to the mountains, forests, farms, cities, and small towns that make up this incredible land—there is so much here worth loving.
And perhaps even more remarkable are the people.
People from every walk of life. Different cultures, faiths, backgrounds, political beliefs and traditions. People who may have very little in common on paper, yet who can still stand beside one another when it matters most.
That is the America worth remembering.
Not a perfect America. Not an America without disagreement.
But an America where neighbors can still show up for neighbors. Where strangers can still become friends. Where communities can gather, share a meal, lend a hand, and remind one another that we belong to something bigger than ourselves.
Today, we remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.
And we remain grateful for this beautiful, complicated, extraordinary country we are fortunate to call home.
