Laughing Buddha Nursery is a gardening shop turned farmer-owned local grocery! Our mission is to 1) help people eat well by sourcing food from local, sustainable farms and 2) supply people with the knowledge and tools to be successful in their gardening pursuits. LBN began in 2003, carrying organic gardening supplies, eventually adding a line of soil and compost products, hydroponics supplies and

even home brew supplies. Since starting our regenerative, pasture-based farm -- Local Cooling Farms -- in 2015, our focus has shifted to offering our own farm products (grass-fed beef and goat meat and pasture-raised eggs and pork) alongside other local foods grown or produced in our region: pasture-raised dairy and chicken, Gulf seafood, organically grown produce, value-added products like ferments and pickles, jams and jellies, rice, pasta, bread, coffee, sauces and more. You can shop in our store, pre-order online and pick up in store or from one of our neighborhood delivery hubs around New Orleans and the Northshore. We still produce high quality soil and compost blends and offer them alongside organic seeds, fertilizers and gardening amendments. Overall we want to help you eat and grow the best food that you can in our region!

Fresh goat milk and kombucha delivered today, plus colorful root veggies (hakurei turnips are back!), beautiful indigo radicchio, microgreens, the first pickling cukes of the season, the return of fresh pasta, plus plenty of proteins like red snapper taco strips and grassfed New York strip steaks!

So much good food at our house lately, here’s an overdue round up of what we’ve been making with what’s in season! 😍

1., 2. & 3. Smashed Egg Roll Tacos with Ground Chicken. There are some absolute hits in this round up, but these were the best! Sesame oil and chili crisp plus a veggie slaw smashed right into the meat, sautéed mushrooms and cilantro on top. A fried egg with one version. 🤌

We’re ready for another week of local goodness! Hope you are, too!

We’ll have farm hubs in Mandeville, Covington and Irish Channel, plus home deliveries in those and surrounding neighborhoods and deliveries only in Lakeview, Mid-City and Gentilly.

We thought last week was going to be the last strawberry delivery, but eked out another for us! Thursday is a possibility, but not guaranteed to claim them asap!

We also have tons of salad greens, squash and zucchini, root veggies, herbs, pastured and grassfed meats, eggs and dairy, Gulf seafood and lots more.

Laughing Buddha Market Tour: Shop Rearrange and Broken Fridge Edition!

We were able to move some freezers around to see if we can replace our two door display cooler with a larger three door cooler an we can!

So we’re looking forward to being able to stock even more produce and cold goods soon.

In the meantime, we’re using our years of fridge Tetris experience to still bring you all the bounty of the season.

We may not get more Faust strawberries after this week, so get them while we’ve got them! They’re smaller and extra sweet right now.

There’s also lots of salad greens, the first cucumbers of the season, summer squash, root veggies, herbs, microgreens and after I took this video we got in more celery, spring onion bunches and mushrooms.

There’s also dairy, eggs, tofu, hummus, restocked glazed pecans and pecan butter and jams, jellies and pickles.

Proteins are stocked up in the freezers, too, plus there’s fresh and frozen bread, coffee and herbal teas, honey and cane syrup, mushroom seasonings and tinctures.

Come see us today (Saturday) if you’re not Jazz Festing, otherwise we’re open next week Tuesday-Saturday as usual!

This might be the last week for strawberries! They’re still picking smaller quantities but after some recent heavy rains, the main fields are struggling.

So it goes! Sometimes we make it to mid May and sometimes the weather has other plans.

So get them while we got them! Quarts and a few half flats, too!

Plus we got the first cucumbers of the season from Homegrown in Folsom, the rainbow chard is like technicolor this week, it’s so bright, and there’s lots of other fresh greens, herbs, roots, squash and other produce.

We restocked hummus and jams and pickles, today, too.

And there’s bread and buns, limited kombucha, kimchi and other ferments, grassfed and pastured meats, dairy and more.

There’s still time to order for home delivery in lots of neighborhoods around Mid-City, Lakeview, Gentilly, Downtown, the LGD, Uptown and Old Jefferson an Old Metairie tomorrow or our farm hub and deliveries in Algiers Point on Saturday.

We may have a fridge down, but don’t worry, we’ve still got all your favorite local groceries in our other fridges, coolers and freezers this week!

We’ve got our usual Bywater Farm Hub at tomorrow evening and then on Friday afternoon, home deliveries only in Mid-City, Lakeview and Gentilly, as well as parts of downtown, the Garden District, Irish Channel, Uptown, Carrollton, Broadmoor, Old Jefferson and Old Metairie.

And we’ll have our regular Algiers Farm Hub on Saturday morning, but at hour later than usual (that way we can pack orders in the morning and use fridge space for inventory versus bulkier packed orders!

And you can shop in person in Metairie as usual.

Our original display cooler had a solid 10 year run and we’re likely going to upgrade to a slightly bigger unit for its replacement, stay tuned!

Fresh chicken in the house!

Usually we only have frozen meats, but processed on Tuesday and delivered today, so you’ve got a short window to get a fresh whole bird this week.

We also restocked several cuts like wings and thighs today (and breasts, too, but they already sold out! 😳).

More goat milk and cheeses came in today, too, and tomorrow we’ll get more hummus, mushrooms and lots of greens from Homegrown in Folsom.

Buffalo from is back! And we’re still so glad is processing chicken again (another restock tomorrow)!

There’s also lots of other pastured and grassfed meats, fresh dairy and eggs, strawberries, greens, herbs and root veggies galore, hummus, heirloom grain, pasta, coffee, granola bars, seasonings, hot sauces and so much more.
