t Cantaloupe Deal, the production of top quality Cantaloupe has ever been our #1 priority. With this aim in view, we have partnered with several Growers that share our "Culture of Quality" and have met our criteria for excellence with a determined drive to produce the finest Cantaloupe possible. The Criteria is as follows:
AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES: Must incorporate Sustainable, Renewable farming practices along with the judicious use of U.S.D.A. approved Fertilizers, Pesticides and Fungicides. All Cantaloupe acreage grown on Plastic to reduce the possibility of soil borne diseases and to promote a good quality Cantaloupe. HARVESTING: Maintenance of seasoned harvesting crews trained in the latest Harvesting techniques and procedures with an eye not only for proper labor management but also for the "Food Safety" issues. PACKING HOUSE: Washing the Cantaloupe in a water bath with the addition of U.S.D.A. approved and recommended Additives to eliminate any soil borne bacteria and to wash the Cantaloupe clean of any foreign matter. PLU STICKERS & MECHANICAL SIZERS: To insure uniform sizing. Place Pack Cantaloupe in Bins or in Cartons, to produce a top quality appearing package. PRE-COOLING & STORAGE: Modern Forced Air Coolers removing the field heat out of the Cantaloupe as soon as possible and loaded on Trucks in a timely manner. FOOD SAFETY: All our Growers are Certified Global GAP compliant and have all the necessary Food Safety Audits. PACKING HOUSE, FIELD & HARVESTING CREW AUDITS: All done by approved 3rd party Auditors and as members of E.C.G.A. (Eastern Cantaloupe Growers Association), our Growers exceed the required minimum standard. All Audits and results will be furnished upon request. TRACTABILITY: All Bins or Cartons to have attached labels coded with the information for tractability back to the field.
