New barn cat alert! 🐱🚨🐱🚨🐱🚨Since the untimely passing of our buddy Ferg we’ve been back and forth on getting another. In the last month or so the evidence of rodents and other small mammals taking over the yard and getting into just about everything forced our hands!

Welcome Trubel! Any Grimm fans out there? She’s 3 and we picked her up this past weekend while up in Maine from our friends at PALS No-Kill Cat Shelter. She was in the “naughty mean kitty” room but she warmed right up to us. Hopefully she’ll be earning her keep before we know it.

Our 3rd and final crazy baby event this week so far was this little fawn! While we were playing bat rescue we heard all sorts of commotion in the goat pen. This little idiot managed to get in the goat pen and could not get out.

After about 40 minutes of chasing the silly thing around it gave up and we caught her. We tried letting her cool off and give her some cold water but she was stressed and HOT! We decided to carry her out behind the goat pen where she was trying to go and hopefully momma deer will be back at sundown to gather her young from the husky hideaway daycare.

Part two, 2, too, to of baby week here at the homestead is the bats! There’s around 8 of them up there peeping away! We came home today and heard even more noise and Croc found a baby on the ground!

After a few calls to different animal and wildlife places we were told to stick the babe on a towel and use a broom to lift it back up to the bat house to let it climb in. We gave it a shot and the little thing climbed back in!

It’s been a crazy week full of animal babies here at the HUHIHO!! Over the weekend one of our hens who had taken up residence under our barn hatched 3 little chicken nuggets! We’ve since moved her and her babes to a small coop for them to enjoy for a few weeks before we introduce them back into the flock! Let’s hope it’s not 3 roosters 🥴🥴
