Debbie at Salamander Springs, the organizer and not-for-profit sponsor of The Milly Market, sends this note and request for sustaining donations as our 2025 season wraps up in October:
----
I want to thank all of you for your continued support of Salamander Springs and the Milly Market. I am working hard with many others to build genuine community in my own backyard.
Because of the help of this community, I was able to put these fifty acres into a conservation easement, managed by Oconee River Land Trust, which also manages the Greenway. GC&SU professors, programs, students, clubs, and organizations have used the farm as a classroom, as well as volunteered many, many hours here. I learn as much from the students as they learn from me, plus I am inspired by their inquisitive natures and willingness to help. They are a huge part of the farm.
The Milly Market finishes up this season on Friday, October 3, and the vendors and I appreciate every person who has stuck by our fledgling venture. The city of Milledgeville, GC&SU, SHINE, and Wholesome Wave Georgia have all gone out of their way to promote the market. Now when I ask someone how they found out about the market, they say: Everyone knows about the Milly Market!
In order to help me continue my work as a nonprofit free educational farm, will you please consider a pledge of $10 a month, or any amount, or a one time donation, to Salamander Springs? Your donation will make a huge difference, and you can come out, tour, visit, and see how your contributions help build our infrastructure and provide an outdoor classroom for local students and Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms volunteers (wwoofers).
With love and gratitude,
Debbie
