The one condition when we bought this house was that they left Buster so we could take care of him. If you don't know busters story, he was shot and thrown out as a puppy on the road we live on. He would run from neighbor to neighbor for food, until one day he decided to stay on our property when the last owners had it. The owners agreed to leave buster so we could take care of him. He's been the most incredible dog, that wouldn't let us touch him. The last 5 years we've been able to see just how special he really was. How he protects all life on our property, how he protects baby rabbits and barks when the cats are trying to get them, how he takes a brand new baby bunny in his dog house and barks until we get it so its safe. How he watches the gate, and let's us know who's coming in. I'll never forget the time we pulled into the home for the first time and buster running up to the front porch and taking a crap on it and walking away. Saying this is his house. And thats what we let him have. This property is his. We named it after him Busters Farm. We created hot sauce and labeled it in his honor. We fed him always, only the best human food and his favorites. When we had to take him to the vet years back because he couldn't walk, he let me get him, only to find out he was walking fine at the vet and the real reason was his heart worms needed addressed if he was going to live the 3 plus years we've got from him. He's truly the best dog, and I can tell many more stories that are unlike any other dog. I'm glad we got to love him, and my one wish was that he would want to come inside like our other pets we love, so he could enjoy softer ground, enjoy the AC, enjoy not having to worry about always being on guard, or flies and bees going on his food that he wasn't ready to eat and bark at them. I Wanted him to feel the love that he deserved. But buster would never want to come inside. Until the other day, I decided it was just way to hot and it was best on how he looked to try to force him inside. So when we have tried in the past for various reasons to get him in, we all have to circle him and then he will lay down and go in a cage that then gets carried into the house where he's let out. Not this time, when we went outside he knew, and instead of doing what he normally does. He just walked right up the stairs and inside the house. Exactly what I've hoped and prayed for since we've been here. He was saying he's ready to come in. The vet came last night she believes he has congestive heart failure or cancer, but his heart and blood work seem good for the most part. We've been able to let buster in the back yard and he comes right back in which is a miracle itself. This morning when it was cool Ashley let him out in our big fenced back yard and gave him some time. Instead of him trying to get out or feel like he didn't want to come in, an hour later he was peacefully laying on the back porch over looking the farm and barn and yard. He will spend his last days inside being loved. We will try to give him fembendenzole and ivermectin as a cancer treatment amd water pills for his heart. We are blessed to of known and to have such an amazing dog. Truly the best dog I've ever seen in my life. He will always be remembered. He is very special and I thank God he came in our lives especially when we all needed it most. My dad passed away when I first met buster, he would follow me everywhere outside when I didn't want to come in and just tried to drown my thoughts in outside work. He helped me get through it, God knew what he was doing. I ask yall to pray for Busters comfort and healing. And we are blessed every single day we get to spend with him.
