History of Main Street Market

More Than 100 Years

The Fisher Family Market on South Pearl Street in Bridgeton brought together four brothers and their families in the early 1900’s. The market adjacent to the Bridgeton “Train Station” provided fresh fruits, vegetables and cattle. The cattle were brought to process at the modern day slaughter and smoke house that was located behind the store on Lemon Street.Progress and Growth

Progress and Growth

As the families grew so did the Fisher’s Markets with locations in Pennsgrove, Cedarville, Millville and multiple facilities in Bridgeton. This included Fisher’s Market at 32 N. Laurel Street which was across the street from the “Super” American Store. The Louis Fisher Market was able to prosper with canned goods and meats, from the early 30’s until the late 70’s.
