These are the faces of two tired people who just spent all Friday into Saturday morning preparing, baking, and packaging for today's market. Some people don't realize the amount of time, effort, and energy it takes to make sourdough bread.
Funny story, four years ago today, we went through the same ordeal.
There was a moment today, around 6 am, when we were heading home from the bakery after being there all night, where I felt so overwhelmed I started to cry; the emotions were stronger than my ego, and the comfort I received from Ryan reassured me that, even if I wouldn't sell out, the love we have for what we do is priceless. We are not doing this just for fun; we are both very proud of ourselves for the commitment we have to our sourdough community. It hasn't been easy, but it is certainly worthy. So, when a person gets surprised at the amount of $$ we charge for our products, we know for a fact that this person doesn't know that freshly milled bolted flour is not comparable to Walmart or Costco's "organic" white flour, and the time we spend preparing is also worth the price of the product.
Today was an eye opener to what’s coming ahead.
25 hours of hard work compare to 4 hours at the market, nothing like a 5 hour nap can’t beat.
Please don’t think our lives are constantly a 24 hours work days, is not. We have our free time, we enjoy other things but being our official first day of Summer Markets took a toll on me. I’m happy that we both had a sold out day and look forward to next week when our third Market joins us for the season.
In gratitude to everyone for loving us this much. 🙏🙏✌️❤️
