Greetings from the family at River Run Urban Growers:
We are a small operation here in SE Portland, utilizing the 1/3 acre parcel we have to grow food for ourselves and our local community. Last year we sold fresh vegetables from our own garden as well as veggie starts and other edibles at the Milwaukie farmers market. Our plant starts had a large following, so this year we decided to
focus on providing other gardeners with vegetable starts grown locally and lovingly by our family. This is a true family venture. At any point throughout the spring, summer and fall one might see my husband in the yard hand tilling our garden beds, our eight year old weeding (or harvesting carrots early ), our three year old filling pots for transplanting or myself standing under cover in the rain diligently seeding fresh pots of soil, and WE LOVE IT. While both my husband and I work full time (myself as a nurse and my husband who is self employed as a plant broker) we dedicate the majority of our free time to this endeavor. We are pleased to spend our time contributing to what we value most, our community and fresh healthy food for families. All our starts are grown in a special soil mix (my own special recipe made fresh on site for each planting) containing only the best ingredients. No synthetic fertilizers or chemicals! All of the seeds used are 100% GMO free and the majority of the seeds are organic and grown in the NW. The plants are all grown 100% organically grown. I have 18 years experience farming and gardening in the NW. I have worked on multiple organic farms throughout NW Washington as well as here in the Willamette valley. You should notice that our order form has 100’s of varieties of plants. With that being said, I have ONLY chosen the varieties that I myself have grown and know to be prolific in this region. We have a great selection for all your plant start needs. In addition to vegetables we also have many other edibles such as blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries, kiwi and many others. Some items may not be on the order sheet at this time, but we will be updating throughout the season. Additionally, some items may not be listed but will be available at the Milwaukie farmers market. Attached is the order sheet as well as a list and description of the plants available. Please keep in mind that due to unforeseeable circumstances certain varieties may become unavailable. Additionally, please note that all orders are based on availability on hand and may sell out at any time. Plant starts should become available starting in mid April and continue into may, depending on the weather. SO, make your garden plan and place your order TODAY to ensure you have the starts you will need for this upcoming season. Orders are picked and prioritized based on order date.
