Hello, pie-loving friends! I'm off to a slow start to the 2016 season following the death of a dear family member three weeks ago from cancer, but I wanted to let you know that, YES, I will be back at the Mineral Point Market this year! My Uncle Gordon loved nothing better than a good blueberry pie shared among friends and family, so I aim to honor his memory by sharing a wonderful summer of friendship and good eats with all of you - see you starting on Saturday, May 7!!

So excited to experiment with fresh red currants from Happy Hunter Farms, LLC! I'm thinking something vaguely Baltic or Scandinavian with some cardamom and cinnamon, but the jury's still out. Pie listings will be up later today, but YES, I will be at the market this Saturday, 8/8. Thanks, everyone!

Pie listings for the Mineral Point Market tomorrow, 7/11! In light of the iffy forecast, I'm going to keep it to three varieties of pies, as well as cinnamon rolls, rugelach, breads, and a few varieties of cookies I'm testing out for the first time.

So excited to introduce the Berries, Port Wine and Almond Frangipane handpie (pictured here), which I've wanted to make for a while! Features a mixture of black cherries, raspberries and blackberries sauced down with ruby port, a splash of balsamic vinegar and cinnamon, then baked with a lightly whipped almond paste.

Running a little late this week, but here are the pie listings for the Mineral Point Market tomorrow, 6/27! I'm bringing back Apple, Strawberry Lemongrass and Thai Mango Sriracha, and experimenting with two new flavors, Coconut Cheesecake and savory Feta & Roasted Red Pepper with Za'atar (a Middle Eastern spice mixture of thyme, sumac, toasted sesame and sea salt). See you at the Water Tower!

Very sad to hear of the passing of one of my favorite artists, Jean Ritchie - a founding figure of the folk music revival, she was an amazing singer, songwriter, and musical scholar. Thank you, Jean, for the wonderful music you shared, including this lovely version of "The Cuckoo."
