Running a small business is NOT for the faint of heart, y’all. 😅🥩

If you’ve been in City Meats this week, you may have noticed our meat case is looking a little bare. Well, that’s because it decided to give us some trouble, because apparently we needed one more thing to keep us on our toes. 🤣

The good news? WE ARE NOT OUT OF MEAT! 🥩

We’re just having to do things a little differently for now. We’ve got plenty of your favorites stocked in our other coolers, and we’re still cutting fresh meat in the back! Just ask us for what you need and we’ll get you taken care of.

Is it ideal? Absolutely not. Are we making it work? You bet we are! 😂

But seriously, this is just one of those behind-the-scenes things that comes with owning a small business. Sometimes things break (unfortunately very expensive things in this case 😖), plans change, and you just have to figure it out as you go.

So if you needed a little reminder to shop small and support local, here it is. 🫶🏻 We know y’all have plenty of places you can shop, and the fact that you continue to choose us means more than we can tell you.

We appreciate y’all being patient with us while we get things back to normal. In the meantime, don’t let that empty meat case fool you. We’ve still got
all your delicious, high-quality proteins! 🥩❤️

Fun Fact: During the month of October, we aren't just running City Meats here in Mineral Wells…we're also running the GO TEXAN General Store at the State Fair of Texas! 🤠

And when we say we're running a store, we mean a full blown STORE. We're talking over 120 Texas brands and more than 2,000 different products. That's a whole lot of Texas-based small businesses all under one roof and we LOVE it 🎡

But, one of the coolest parts of getting to do this every year?! It's where we've discovered SO MANY of the brands you see on our shelves at City Meats!

With both of us coming from agriculture backgrounds, getting to be involved with the GO TEXAN program and support Texas producers and small businesses is something we're pretty dang proud of. But on top of that we also love getting to shop around for new finds to bring home to Mineral Wells. 😉

Pictured are just a few of the GO TEXAN brands we currently carry at City Meats. Every year we come home from the Fair with new brands to add to our shelves, and this year is NO exception!

We've got some really cool new Texas-made products headed our way, and we cannot wait to share them with y'all! 🫶🏻

Taking a quick break from our regularly scheduled food content because I have a husband to brag on 💙

Hayden is the brains, heart and magic behind City Meats. But on top of that he’s also the most incredible husband and dad to our two boys, an amazing boss, a loyal friend and about a million other things to so many people.

And somehow, in the middle of everything he has going on, he still finds time to give back to the community he loves so much.

Whether it’s helping set up for a Downtown event, donating to local nonprofits, lending a hand wherever it’s needed or now serving as Chairman of the Board for the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, Hayden is the kind of person who shows up, steps up and never asks for recognition.

He has the biggest heart, works harder than anyone I know and will probably be a little embarrassed that I’m even writing this. But that’s exactly why I am. 💙

We’re so incredibly proud of him, not just for all the things he does, but for the person he is. And our boys and I are so beyond lucky he’s ours!

Okay, bragging over. For now. 🫶🏻 Congrats, Hayden! We’re so proud of you!
