Blanket Dumplings

These viral Blanket Dumplings are the easiest dumplings you’ll ever make. No folding, no fancy techniques, and no spending an hour sealing wrappers one by one. Just mix the filling, scoop it into a hot skillet, cover each mound with a wonton wrapper, add a splash of water, and let the steam do the work. The result? Juicy, flavorful dumplings with barely any effort.

Yield: 24 dumplings

Ingredients
1 pound ground chicken
4 scallions, finely chopped
1½ tablespoons soy sauce
1½ tablespoons minced ginger
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon black pepper
24 wonton wrappers
2 teaspoons oil
⅔ cup water
chili crisp, for serving

Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, green onions, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, garlic, cornstarch, and black pepper.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
3. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, scoop the filling directly into the skillet, leaving a little space between each mound.
4. Place a wonton wrapper over each scoop of filling and gently press down slightly.
5. Pour the water into the skillet and immediately cover with a lid.
6. Steam for 8–10 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.
7. Serve warm with dumpling sauce or chili crisp.

Shavuos Garden Focaccia

There’s something so beautiful about turning simple vegetables into edible art. For Shavuos, we decorated this focaccia with scallions, peppers, onions, and parsley to resemble little flower gardens, but you can truly use whatever vegetables you have on hand—tomatoes, herbs, zucchini ribbons, and olives all work beautifully too. It’s soft, airy, and surprisingly simple to make.

Ingredients
1¾ cups warm water, plus more if needed
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon instant yeast
4 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons fine sea salt

For Decorating
Olive oil, for drizzling
Scallions
Mini peppers or bell peppers, sliced
Red onion, diced or sliced
Parsley
Poppy seeds (optional)
Cherry tomatoes or any vegetables you like

1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, olive oil, and yeast. Add the flour and salt and mix until a shaggy dough forms. The dough should feel soft and slightly sticky. If needed, add a splash more water.
2. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
3. Perform one stretch and fold by pulling the dough upward and folding it over itself a few times around the bowl. Cover again and refrigerate overnight.
4. The next day, generously oil a parchment-lined sheet pan. Transfer the dough to the pan and gently stretch it outward. Fold the dough over itself once or twice, then spread it toward the edges of the pan.
5. Cover and let the dough come to room temperature and rise for about 2 hours, until puffy.
6. Preheat oven to 425°F. Drizzle the dough generously with olive oil and use your fingertips to dimple the surface all over. Decorate with vegetables to create flowers or any design you like.
7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and crisp around the edges. Serve warm or at room temperature.
