What started as a last-minute idea to do something, anything, for the communities in Colombia affected by the earthquake turned into this incredible morning of people showing up, running together, donating, sharing, and just caring.
To everyone who came out and ran, thank you. To everyone who donated, whether you were there with us or supporting from somewhere else, thank you. Seeing this many people come together for Colombia meant more to us than I can really put into words.
And somehow, together, we’ve already raised more than $10,000.
A huge thank you to Liz Castillo for helping bring all of this together, to Fleet Feet Montclair for hosting us, and to Latinos of Montclair for the steadfast leadership and love they continue to show our Latinx community.
Thank you to Noches de Colombia Montclair for the pastries, to Puras Paletas for being part of the morning, and to every single person who helped make today feel so special.
And to our Paper Plane community, thank you. You shared this, donated, showed up, brought friends, and reminded us again what a beautiful community we get to be part of.
The run may be over, but the need isn’t. The donation link is still live in our bio, and donations will be going to the Cruz Roja Colombiana and World Central Kitchen to support relief and recovery efforts.
Today was about running, but it was really about showing Colombia that even from here, they’re not alone.

Todavía estoy tratando de procesar lo que vivimos esta mañana.
Lo que empezó como una idea de última hora para hacer algo, lo que fuera, por las comunidades afectadas por el terremoto en Colombia terminó convirtiéndose en una mañana increíble. Gente llegando, corriendo juntos, donando, compartiendo y simplemente mostrando cuánto les importa.
A todos los que vinieron a correr, gracias. A todos los que donaron, estuvieran aquí con nosotros o apoyándonos desde lejos, gracias. Ver a tanta gente reunida por Colombia significó muchísimo para nosotros.
Y entre todos, ya hemos recaudado más de $10,000.
Un agradecimiento enorme a Liz Castillo por ayudarnos a organizar todo esto, a Fleet Feet Montclair por recibirnos y ser la casa de esta corrida, y a Latinos of Montclair por su liderazgo constante y todo el amor que le brindan a nuestra comunidad latina.
Gracias también a Noches de Colombia Montclair por los pasabocas, a Puras Paletas por acompañarnos, y a todas las personas que hicieron que esta mañana fuera tan especial.
Y a toda la comunidad de Paper Plane, gracias de corazón. Compartieron el evento, donaron, llegaron con amigos y una vez más nos recordaron la comunidad tan bonita que tenemos alrededor.
La corrida terminó, pero la ayuda todavía hace falta. El link para donar sigue activo en nuestro bio, y las donaciones serán enviadas a la Cruz Roja Colombiana y a World Central Kitchen para apoyar los esfuerzos de ayuda y recuperación.
Hoy corrimos 5K, pero en realidad se trató de algo mucho más grande: recordarle a Colombia que, aunque estemos lejos, no están solos.
