🌸 Signs of Spring at Hardscrabble Hollow 🌸
What a gorgeous day to be out in the dirt doing what I love most 💛
Today I planted sweet peas—always one of the first promises of the season ahead. There’s something so hopeful about getting them tucked into the soil.
The peonies are beginning to pop up (one of my favorite sights every spring!)
And the rhubarb is making its return too—those first leaves are the start of something especially sweet… the beginning of some delicious spring pies 🍓🥧
The tulips are off to a strong, happy start. It won’t be long now… 🌷
And the tiniest sign of good luck—a little ladybug stopped by to say hello 🐞 (the good kind… not those stinky Japanese beetles 😅).
Now for the not-so-fun update… I met my first tick of the season. Yes, they are out already—so if you’re out enjoying this beautiful weather, be sure to check yourself when you come in!
Spring is waking up here at Hardscrabble Hollow, and I’m so excited to share it with you 💐
Now is a great time to start thinking about how you can get your hands on this season’s bouquets! Many of you have already signed up for our subscription (thank you! 💛), but if not, no worries—there are plenty of ways to enjoy fresh flowers from the farm.
You can find us at the Monticello Farmers Market on Saturdays starting May 9, pick up bouquets at Java Jones on Mondays and Thursdays beginning in June, or stop by Roast and Toast in Delhi on the weekends.
And as always, if you have a special order in mind, I’m happy to help 🌿💐
✨ Do you have a favorite rhubarb recipe—pie, crisp, something else? I’d love to hear!
