Emotions ran high yesterday as we completed the move out of our building. Three years of hard work and dedication and this was our last view as we locked the door for the last time. It has to be said that we are beyond sad that we will no longer be able to support our fantastic customers and local suppliers in this capacity. We will of course remain committed to supporting our local agriculture community and if anyone ever needs help please feel free to reach out. To the hundreds of customers who visited during our shutdown and shared hugs, tears and laughs with us, Erica and I would like to express our sincere gratitude for not only you shopping with us, but for your friendship. It was you that made coming to work every day an absolute joy. You will forever be in our hearts and we look forward to seeing all of you around this great community. While we may not have been financially successful in our endeavor we feel our community efforts were a triumphant success and by that measure, we left this business with our heads held high. I have refunded all that donated to our go fund me campaign and please know that each of you that donated will forever be rockstars.

Lastly I would like to thank my wife and kids, and family. Without their support I never would have attempted or been even moderately successful in this business venture.

I will leave this FB page open for anyone who may have a need to reach out about local sourcing as that is the ultimate goal of what we were attempting to do. Please feel free to reach out any time.

My apologies for such a late post about our liquidation sale starting tomorrow at 9am. It was our intention to keep the business operating if possible and we had a last minute potential buyer so we explored that option first. However they decided today not to purchase the business so our liquidation will commence tomorrow as previously posted.

All inventory will be sold at 50% off listed price. EBT will still be accepted for food products. Any open gift cards will be able to be used for inventory or equipment.

All equipment will have prices on them.

We will conduct these liquidation sales until everything is sold. Many have reached out about certain equipment items already and I will be responding to those in kind.

If there is anyone who is wanting to purchase the business I will still entertain this option until midnight tonight. This is a turn key opportunity and is still a great and affordable opportunity for any aspiring entrepreneur.

Hello friends. A great number of people have reached out over the past couple of weeks that we have been closed with great words of encouragement and kindness regarding our business. Unfortunately we are at the point that we can no longer keep our business operating and must move on to liquidating the business to pay down a portion of our incurred debt. We feel that we have explored every avenue that we could to save this great business but alas every effort has lead us to being forced to shut it down permanently as to not incur further debt. Over the next couple of weeks I will be holding a liquidation sale in which everything must go. Inventory and equipment. I Will post more tomorrow as to which days we will be holding these sales but for sure we will be open all day this Saturday to begin this process.

If anyone is still interested in buying the business we will still entertain offers but please know that the price is $90k and if interested that would need to be done very quickly before we start the liquidation process.

It has been an absolute honor that so many have loved our business and we thank the great many communities and friends that have supported us over the past 2.5 years of operation. I would encourage everyone to continue to support your local agriculture and food producers.

I also would like to thank the 39 folks that have donated to our go fund me endeavor. I was my sincere wish to be able to refund the $2500 that you were so kind to donate but as I stated anything under 50% of our target would be used to pay down our large debts. If anyone wishes to continue to donate please know that it is very much so appreciated. Who knows, maybe a great miracle will happen and our goal will be met before the weekend!!

After long….and I do mean long consideration we have decided to sell our business, Truly Local, to pursue other interests. This was a very difficult decision as we have spent 3 years planning and executing our vision to promote local foods within the Morehead community. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to own/operate their own business or even expand a similar model to a new territory. If you have dreams of operating a small bakery or deli this would be the perfect accompaniment to what we have already built. It is far easier to expand a current business than to start from scratch I can assure you. Due to impending weather Truly Local will be closed Friday 12/23 - we have also made the decision to be closed all week next week to spend some much needed time with family. This means tomorrow 12-22 will be our last day of operation until Monday 1-2-23. We wish each and every one that reads this has a safe and happy holiday.

If you are looking for a great Christmas present for those in your office, nothing will delight more than The Cookie Yoda cookies. These are absolutely delicious and your coworkers will be super impressed by your gesture. These are locally made and we have several flavors available. This will be my last restock of the year so hurry up and get them while you can!!!!

Today, I was humbled. Today, I feel 10 feet tall and can take on a grizzly bear. The picture you see below was a gift from one of my mini customers. Her mother explained that she considers me one of her friends and wanted to get me a Christmas gift. I cannot even begin to explain what this means to me. That this spunky 6-7 year old girl whom I see about twice a week as she’s trading out her Disney pins thinks of me as her friend. It’s moments like this that make the almost 70 hours a week that I work here worth the effort. I have come to know my frequent customers and a good portion of their families and absolutely cherish every visit with them. I don’t ask for gifts and try my best to be the best grocer, community steward and friend that I can be. I can assure you that the friendships developed here at this small grocery store will stick with me for the rest of my life.

To little miss Addison, thank you for your wonderful gift and for being my friend. You have made this rainy, gloomy day seem as bright and cheery as your beautiful soul. I’m naming the moose Fuddy!!! Fuddy will be with me forever!
